Wow, I didn't think the fight would end so quickly.

Same for the Mir fight.

Benson Henderson vs. Anthony Pettis

Round 1:
Henderson opens southpaw and he's pressuring Pettis for a takedown immediately. Henderson switches for a single. It doesn't work and they briefly separate until Henderson gets all over him again against the fence. Short uppercut from Henderson scores and again, he's back on Pettis. Henderson scoring all sorts of small shots on Pettis, but again he breaks free. Pettis lands a hard middle kick. And another. And another. And another. Henderson appears to be slightly hurt. Pettis tries for a capoeira kick off a handstand and it goes nowhere. Pettis moves into guard and frames up for an armbar. It works.

Anthony Pettis def. Benson Henderson via submission (armbar) at 4:31 of round 1

I'm happy for Anthony although I picked Henderson to win (a local boy). I think both these guys are superb fighters. The rematch will be awesome. What I don't get is why the crowd would boo Benson (ditto his last fight, even when he was proposing). Stupid drunks, I guess.

It's because we're in Pettis' hometown. They weren't so much booing Ben as they were booing not-our-guy.

and THATS why Dana White should have kept his promise to Anthony Pettis on the closure of WEC.

You'll notice it wasnt a drab U-Dec victory...or a draw which allows an instant, must have, re-match...

Can you say Vindication
