Ben Rothwell vs. Brandon Vera

Round 1:
Vera opens southpaw while Rothwell is orthodox. Both fighters exchange and each land shots, but Rothwell gets the best of it with a hard right that very briefly buckles Vera. Vera responds, however, with a hard body kick. Rothwell over pursues and eats a right hand. Rothwell connects with a left, misses with a right. Hard middle kick again from Vera, but he eats a right hand. Inside leg kick now from Rothwell. Rothwell chasing with punches, but hitting air as Vera moves side to side. Inadvertent groin kick from Rothwell lands on Vera and the bout is temporarily halted. The round ends almost as it's resumed.

Round 2:
Vera opens with two right outside leg kicks. Rothwell scores a minor uppercut and they clinch. Rothwell attempts a head kick, but it's blocked. Rothwell now pressuring Vera against the fence and scoring potshots in the clinch. The fighters exchange outside leg kicks. Rothwell pressures Vera against the fence again and he scores with a hard right hand. Vera responds with a left of his own. Vera lands with a left straight before the close of the round.

Round 3:
Body kick for Rothwell finds the mark and he pushes Vera into the fence. The referee separates them for inactivity. Short uppercut finds the mark for Rothwell. Rothwell swarms Vera after getting aggressive. Vera is badly hurt and drops to the ground. Rothwell goes hip to hip on a turtled Vera and fires a few more shots until referee Herb Dean steps in and stops.

I think I'm the only one on the forums who was rooting for him.

Chad Mendes vs. Clay Guida

Round 1:
Both fighters open orthodox. Hard outside leg kick from Mendes, but Guida fires a right in return. Mendes doing a lot of pressuring in the middle as Guida attempts a takedown and is nearly guillotined before going back down and rolling through. Mendes abandons the attempt and they're back on their feet. Right hand connects for Mendes. A driving inside trip for Mendes puts Guida on his back. A short scramble still ends with Mendes on top.

Round 2:
Both fighters exchange leg kicks and is trying to pressure Mendes more. Inadvertent groin kick from Guida to Mendes halts the bout. The bout resumes and Mendes scores a hard leg kick before having to sprawl to avoid a takedown. Guida sprawls and avoids Mendes' takedown. Mendes lands a hard uppercut in the clinch and just off of that gets behind Guida after a modified snapdown. Guida is able to stand and now pressuring forward.

Round 3:
Guida pressuring early and Mendes tags him with a right that drops him. Guida recovers very quickly but Mendes is all over him and scores a MONSTER right. Guida turtles up in extreme pain and with just a few shots more, the bout is halted.

Frank Mir vs. Josh Barnett

Round 1:
Both fighters open orthodox. Right away Barnett is pressuring and both fighters are landing as they clinch. Barnett still pressuring forward with Mir's back against the fence. Barnett is landing hard uppercuts in the clinch. Barnett is starting to land hard and Mir is reacting to Barnett's clinch game.

Well, I don't feel so bad, then. I don't know what it is about Brandon but I've always been a fan. Not good, this second loss. Ditto for Frank's third.
