Jones will fight Machida on Sept. 22.
Ooooh, JBJ got pwned big-time with that zinger.

Interesting that he wouldn't accept the fight. Damn, I was looking forward to this, I hope Dan can come back strong from this injury.

Good for Chael for stepping up.
Great points, Kevin.

Personally, I find such a statement demeaning to real warriors: our troops, who fight for their lives and our freedoms everyday. Sorry, but Jon Jones is not a real "warrior." Alluding to himself as one is proof enough of that.

Champions fight thats what they do it's in their make up. Look at Matt, Chuck and Randy all they want is a fight. They all still want that fight why because they are competitive it drives them. As it should Jones lacks that drive and I place all that on his camp and the way that they have brought him up. Lyoto isnt as of big of a threat as Chael is.
get real .. how can you say he doesn't want to fight, yet he was scheduled to fight dan .. he is taking the fight with lyoto in less than a month ... and to say that chael is a bigger threat than lyoto is laughable ... sure, jon has already beat lyoto, but machida has been champ ... more than you can say for chael ...

jones has fought great wreslters in rashad, hamill and has never been taken down .. glad he did what he did .. for the intergrity of mma .. (yes, i said it again)

and don't talk about these other guys taking fights cuz they were competitive .. randy walked away from the sport beacuse other guys were getting paid more .. if competition drove him, he wouldn't care that other guys were better at negotiating ... chuck lidell wouldn't fight lindland cuz he felt he didn't deserve it .. same thing jones did ...

You're right, each to his own, but I think you got it backwards, Jones did what suits him and to heck with everybody else. But it's sweet of you to give Jones the benefit of the doubt that he actually gives a fig about integrity and all.

Btw, should the word integrity ever be used in connection with the word sport? Also, title shots are not always "earned". Sometimes Dana "giveth" and sometimes Dana "taketh away".

true ... but chael has been trying to talk himself into a fight with jones for a while, smack talking etc ... jones just slammed down the trump card and gave chael a dose of reality .. you want a shot at the lhw strap, fight for it and earn it ...

"This is the first time in UFC history that the champion wouldn't step up and fight [a replacement], and I was pretty shocked to hear that," Henderson said. "It's not like he's injured. It's unbelievable to me that he wouldn't take that 'the show must go on' attitude. If there was any way I could have gone, and any way that I thought I could give myself a chance to win, I would have done that."
That is from Dan Henderson.

FYI, Chris Weidman was offered and accepted the fight too....would he have been worthy of the shot?

So Chael wasn't the only one he refused? I guess it's all that integrity... lol

Wishing Dan the best!

I bet Dana is turning the air blue!

his career could be over ... or at the least, not getting another shot .. it may take awhile for him to recover and he may not be guaranteed a shot when he gets back ... but i guess he has been lucky to prolong his career due to TRT ..

no .. from what i know .. weidman was challenged by vitor belfort and he said no, he wants to fight anderson .. so you can't turn down a fight and then ask for a title shot, not get that, and ask for a title shot in the weight class higher ..

So it's all been the TRT? Huh, doesn't seem to have helped Chael all that much.

I'm still wishing Dan the best!
