Default TUF Brazil Premiers TONIGHT!! (3/25)

TUF: Brazil Premieres Sunday Night Online in North America

Quote:
Mar 23, 2012 - Good news, North American MMA fans, you too can watch the complete series of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil.

UFC officials announced that all 13 episodes of TUF: Brazil will air Sunday nights on TUF.tv at midnight ET / 9 p.m. PT, and the premiere episode will air this Sunday, March 25. The first-ever international edition of The Ultimate Fighter will feature Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva coaching middleweights and featherweights.

Unlike the current American edition of The Ultimate Fighter currently airing on FX in North America, TUF: Brazil won't be live, as the entire season, except for the finals, has already been taped. The finals are expected to take place at the UFC's return to Brazil on either June 16 or June 23 on the undercard of Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen II. Wanderlei Silva vs. Vitor Belfort II will also take place on the card.

The premiere episode of TUF: Brazil will feature 32 fighters vying for the chance to make it on the show. The 16 winners (eight 145ers and eight 185ers) will then enter the TUF house for a chance to win a UFC contract.

The show will air in Brazil on Sunday nights as well, so there won't be much of a delay between its Brazilian TV premiere and when its premierier online for US and Canadian fans.

The UFC also announced that Brazilian greats Anderson Silva, Junior dos Santos, Jose Aldo, Lyoto Machida and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua all make appearances on the show.

Check out the entire TUF: Brazil roster here.

Here's another article breaking down tonight's action:

Quote:
Oh wow, this is the first time we've ever had concurrent seasons of The Ultimate Fighter. It's also the first season to not feature any Americans. We sometimes forget just how young this sport is and hopefully we have a whole raft of 'firsts' to look forward to, such as first backflip-kick knockout. Thinking about it, we might even see that in this season of The Ultimate Fighter. From past experience, I can't think of a single Brazilian on TUF that wasn't a face crushing badass, and now we're faced with the prospect of an entire season full of guys who will resemble Blanka from Street Fighter II in the cage. Something tells me this show will be full carefully translated expletives.

TUF: Brazil will air on a Sunday evening on Globo on Brazil but if you don't live in Brazil or speak Portuguese, then UFC will be streaming each week's episode on TUF.tv complete with subtitles at 11:30 ET/8:30 PT. In the first episode, Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort will get their first glimpse of the fighters as they compete to enter the house. Eight matches in the middleweight and featherweight division will decide the final sixteen contestants. If you sit and watch the elimination fights with a notepad, then you'll be interested in swotting up on the names below.

  • Middleweights
    • Leonardo Mafra Teixeira (5-0) vs. Samuel Trindade (6-1)
    • Daniel Sarafian (7-2) vs. Richardson Moreira (3-0)
    • Francisco Drinaldo (10-1) vs. Charles Maicon (8-1)
    • Delson Heleno (23-6) vs. Gilberto Galvao (19-4-1)
    • Sergio Moraes (6-1) vs. Thiago Rela (3-1)
    • Cezar Ferreira (4-2) vs. Gustavo Sampaio (5-1)
    • Joao Paulo de Souza (8-4) vs. Thiago de Oliveira Perpetuo (8-1-1)
    • Renee Forte (7-1) vs. Fabio Luiz Vital da Costa (9-0-1)
  • Featherweights
    • Alexandre Ramos (5-0) vs. Hugo Viana (5-0)
    • Giovanni da Silva Santos Jr. (10-1) vs. John Teixeira (13-0-1)
    • Marcos Vinicius Borges Pancini (19-3-1) vs. Pedro Nobre (10-0-1)
    • Rodrigo Damm (9-5) vs. Fabricio de Assis Costa da Silva (14-1)
    • Rony Mariano Bezerra (10-3) vs. Dileno Lopes (8-0)
    • Anistavio Medeiros (12-7) vs. Rafael Bueno (7-1)
    • Wagner Campos (11-3) vs. Fernando Duarte Guerra (10-1)
    • Godofredo Pepey (8-0) vs. Johnny Goncalves (4-0)

The first episode went down pretty well. If my math is right (which it prolly isn't! ), we got only 5-6 decisions out of 16 fights. Not too shabby!
