My comment wasn't specifically aimed at anybody here, but this topic has come up before in the past and there is definitely a large following of people who feel that way about Diaz.

Of course alcohol is legal, and I am not saying the UFC shouldn't have alcohol companies as sponsors. I just think that it's funny when people get bent out of shape over weed but they have no problem with alcohol. To simply say "it's wrong because it's illegal" isn't really a sound argument. Also, just because he tested positive for weed doesn't mean he was smoking it in his locker room before the fight. Sure, he could have been, we don't really know, but I doubt it. So it's not really the same as showing up drunk.

I agree that Nick messed up, and he will have to pay the consequences, just like he did after the Gomi fight.

I know! Like, I go to work 40 hours a week, bust it, have to do what I have to do, which means whatever "they" tell me. A UFC fighter is working, no doubt, but supposedly at something they LOVE to do, so it shouldn't feel like it, right?
And aside, from fighting, you've gotta train, you've gotta make weight, and you've gotta NOT test positive for banned substances of any kind. Doesn't seem like it should be that hard. The fighting itself...well that's another story.

It's pretty well documented that Nick doesn't really "love" fighting. He's just damn good at it.

Making weight is a different issue entirely, and there are a lot of fighters who have no business cutting as much weight as they do to compete, yet the promoters allow it and even encourage it at times. As for banned substances, it's pretty cut and dry and these guys know the rules. 10 years ago it was one thing to say you accidentally took something that was banned in an over the counter product because you didn't know it was in there, but that won't fly today because people are much more educated on the subject, and it certainly won't fly with marijuana. Nick messed up and he will have to answer for it in front of the commission.
