I am trying to move out of Granville and have three options. The first option is to move into council Housing. I am on the list for that but it could be a very long waiting list. If that works out I pay rent to the council and after five years I can begin to buy the property if I want.

The other option is to move and rent from another private landlord, there are always flats in the area, some are about the same rent, but better. This is the option that must happen around Christmas if either the others havent transpired

The final option looked to be a dead fish. Called part buy, part rent, it entails going into a house with a houseing agency. The one that we like in the area is called Sanctuary Housing and it is prepared to do a 50/50 split on a nice flat. 50 percent equates to 70 thousand Stirling in price...of which I would have to pay upfront. Obviously I dont have that money which is why you borrow from a bank as a mortgage, each month you pay rent to Sanctuary for their 50% and you pay the banks in return for your 50% but mortgages arent offered for people of my calibre at more then 40 Thousand Stirling. And so there is a gap...my Parents are offering to add 10 Thousand Stirling, meaning the maximum I can make is Fifty Thousand Stirling.

I am Twenty Thousand Pounds short, thats a fifteen percent gap. So Tommorow I shall phone Sanctuary housing and ask if they would consider a 35% ownership by me instead of 50 percent, and then ask them how much they will up the rent considering they would own 65% rather then 50%

Assuming they say Yes, and that the rent doesnt rise to much...then the Financial Advisor says she thinks she can broker with the banks to not just give me the money, but to allow me to pay it back so in total my Rent to Sanctuary, and my Mortgage to the bank would equal within Twenty Pounds of my monthly rent on Granville right now.

Harrogate Borough Council are still refusing to give me any benefits even though the outgoings would be the same, because half the outgoing would be mortgage and not rent...but they have cut my housing fund by Three Quarters since April...and it looks like this time next year they wouldnt be funding me anyway...soooo in short...•••• Them.

This is good timing because I am close to declairing all out war on my Landlord for a second time in my Five year Tenure

I feel like a pin cushion! I just got out of the hospital today. I began to experience excruciating pain in my left calf last Friday, and it began to swell. I finally went to the ER, and the doctor said it looked like a blood clot, so they sent me to have an ultrasound. That showed nothing (small local hospital). The next day it was unbearable, so I finally went to the VA emergency room, and they found a large blood clot in my lower leg. I'm not sure how the other hospital missed it, but the VA docs said it could be life threatening.

They said it is most likely related to my immobility due to my MS, which causes the blood to pool in my lower legs and tend to clot. Now I'm on blood thinners indefinitely (cumadin and lovenox). I have to avoid everything that may involve accidentally getting cut, scraped, bruised, and the potential of falling. I also had a partially collapsed lung with some fluid in it from being too sedentary as well, although that sounds strange to me. I get 3 shots every day now. Kim may as well go ahead and get a nursing degree, lol.

The VA is also doing some kind of genetic study to see if the propensity to have blood clots could be inherited with me, because my mom and grandmother had them as well.

Lovenox is one of my specialties. We do the studies to find out of women have clotting disorders and then dose them with lovenox for their pregnancy. I teach patients about it several times a week and teach them how to self inject. Did they give you the speech on how to prevent bruising with the injections? You'll bruise some, but we give a whole segment of education on bruising tips. If clotting runs in your family, you will probably have the markers for it in the blood tests. Sorry you had to find out with a full blown DVT.

And Kim should get a nursing degree if she is at all interested. It's pretty good job security. People will always get old or get sick, even in the bad economy.

Actually they didn't. They just told Kim to inject it like she does my copaxone for the MS. I actually have a pretty nasty bruise from where the VA nurse injected my last shot yesterday before I was discharged. Is there somewhere on the 'net I can find that info?

Here are the tips I share with my pregnant ladies that we have put on lovenox. Just ignore the imagery of creating a baby.....

1. Never take a hot shower or bath immediately before or after your injection. The warm water dilates abdominal blood vessels, increasing blood flow to the injection site and decreasing the ability of the blood to clot.
2. The medication should be injected subcutaneously into the fat on the abdomen. The injection should not go into muscle tissue.
3. Finding just the right spot to inject is vital. Once a handful of good spots are found, these areas should be remembered and “reused” in future injections. After a while, I discovered and remembered areas on my abdomen that hurt less and bleed less following an injection.
4. Do not inject within 1.5 inches below, above, or to the left or right of the belly button. These areas tend to bleed more.
5. Blood vessels and nerves tend to be located next to each other. A good way to stay away from blood vessels is to stay away from nerves. To do this, use the very tip of the needle to gently push on an area that you are considering for the injection. If it hurts, move away from that spot (just a millimeter to the left or right) and locate an area that does not really hurt. If it does not hurt, you are less likely to bleed a lot or get a large bruise or hematoma.
6. Once a good spot is found the area can be iced before the injection. Although once I became a “pro”, I just skipped the ice and did the injection. I just didn’t need it after a while. But in the beginning, it made the injection a lot easier.
7. Swab the area with an alcohol prep pad and allow it to dry completely (if it is still wet the injection may sting even more than it normally would).
8. Gently “pinch” (pinch is probably the wrong word. I should say, gather the fat between your finger tips) the fat and skin at the injection site.
9. Hold the needle at a 45 degree angle and inject so that the needle (notice that the tip is beveled – lead with the most pointed part of the needle) goes into the fat layer. At this point, imagine holding the baby that you are trying to create – this imagery makes the discomfort much more bearable and meaningful.
10. Slowly inject the liquid. Once all liquid has been injected, wait a second and then slowly release the fat and remove the needle.
11. Do not put pressure on the injection site, even if it is bleeding. Putting pressure on a site that has been injected with a “blood thinner” will not encourage the blood to clot faster and will likely make a bigger bruise or a hematoma.
12. Do not use a band-aid or a bandage on the injection site. Just wait patiently for it to stop bleeding (if it bleeds at all). Usually, if a good spot is found, it will not bleed and it will only leave a 1mm circular purplish spot.

Thanks Amy! I printed it out. I have to get my blood tested every 3 days now for an INR (?). They want it between 2 and 3, ideally 2.5. Yesterday mine was 1.2, which apparently means either I am at risk for more clots, the existing clot is affecting my blood, or something like that. Anyway, all it means to me is that I have to keep getting the shots every day until it gets in the range they want, then I just try to maintain that level with the coumadin pills. I also learned that coumadin is the main ingredient in rat poison, lol.
