For me it started as the allure of having an AK chambered in 5.56 and I wanted a project that I could tinker on. Plus there's just something to be said about getting your rifle from the original manufacturer of the AK, Izhmash who is going 200+ years strong.
Good WASRs exist, don't get me wrong. They just requires a bit more manual inspecting to make sure you're getting a nice one. Unfortunately, the nice ones are still ugly :P At the end of the day it comes down to what your budget is and what you're looking for in the rifle. |
