go with the saiga. I've converted one in .223 and have another in 7.62 I'd like to complete eventually.

I only hear great things about the Saiga, but its typically 3rd hand you know?

Why did you concert them yourself?

For me it started as the allure of having an AK chambered in 5.56 and I wanted a project that I could tinker on. Plus there's just something to be said about getting your rifle from the original manufacturer of the AK, Izhmash who is going 200+ years strong.

Good WASRs exist, don't get me wrong. They just requires a bit more manual inspecting to make sure you're getting a nice one. Unfortunately, the nice ones are still ugly :P

At the end of the day it comes down to what your budget is and what you're looking for in the rifle.
