My point is that this article tells people to not just trust that a person is a cop because they flash a badge. The other story has a police officer in plain clothes jumping out of a car and pulling a gun on a motorcyclist, without a badge immediately visible, and the motorcyclist is portrayed by the police as being in the wrong for not recognizing that he's a cop.

Don't you see the disconnect there?

There needs to be more discipline on the part of police as well. They need to understand that there are impersonator cops out there looking to prey on people, thus they shouldn't get angry or abusive with people just because they don't immediately believe that they are actually cops.

of course i see the problem .. it is just tough, that from childhood we are taught that you can trust a police officer and to respect them, but idiots take the power way to far and you have corrupt bastards and power hungry morons ..

A badge is clearly not enough anymore to prove that a police officer is actually a police officer. There needs to be some other method for cops to prove their identity.

Maybe certain wrong behaviors and the citizen can legally resist! One of the good things about small towns is they can more likely send somebody easier recognized! As for that plain clothes officer in the motorcycle video he should be strongly disciplined! If somebody pulls me over and pulls a gun I expect them to be a Uniformed cop! I also expect some decent behavior from them. After all they are supposed to protect and serve the public. Not the other way around! I don't like it when Law enforcement behave like law breakers! A badge should NOT make someone above the law!

Oh, but their job is soooo difficult and they are under soooo much stress, so we need to cut them some slack.

Seriously, if they can't handle the stress of the job, then maybe they have no business being police officers.

Interesting point! You know I really don't mean to be disrespectful about Law Enforcement or thier job but I do think they must be held to a standard of behavior. That is not the only stressful high risk job in the world! People in other jobs are usually expected to be able to handle the stress of thier job or find a new one. For example, I ain't planning on getting a job that requires me to personally handle venomous snakes. Why? I doubt I could handle that kind of job! My tendency would be to shoot every snake I saw! Just like somebody has no bussiness running a cash register if thier gonna steal the money or cheat the customers!

distrubing for sure. but not as disturbing as someone I know at work whose just been sent down for two years due to child porn...he only got such a short sentance coz they rulled that he was...well...not alltogether compus mentus.

I hope he has to at least wear a tracking bracelet when he gets out? What step's are gonna be taken to make sure he don't do something to a child?
