My opinion is unchanged on this; it should be either a fight or a sport.

If it is to be a sport, make it a straight up hybrid of Greco-Roman and Western Boxing. This would be interesting and marketable, would sail through the regulatory commissions, and would have a strong applicability to self defense.

If it is to be a fight, then things like soccer kicks and elbows should be expected, those things happen in a fight and they are really not more dangerous than anything else IF THE FIGHTERS ARE EXPECTING IT and train to deal with it. These techniques are very dangerous when they are ‘illegal’ and the fighters look at the referee instead of defending themselves.
