Default Romans 12:7 - Burning Coals

If your enemy is hungry, feed him;

if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.

In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.c

21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

The old burning coals thing comes up a lot. The passage links it back to proverbs 25:21 where it says after that god will reward you.

Now I think this passage is all about us as the individual, so that God is telling us to behave in a certain way because it is right and because he will be the final judge and will act vengence for us. Therefore do not go down to our level.

I always felt the burning coals is explaining that treating enemies with kindness will confuse them and cos costernation.

Others felt it was further consigning to them hell or perhaps making them think and possibly come to the Gospel.

Any help guys?

Its about blessings and curses.

Blessings usually involve Revelation, Revelation involves Growth, Growth is painful.

Curses usually involves Revelation, Revekalation involves Growth, Growth is painful.

BUT both lead to GOD...or are designed to show GOD off in some way. We Bless our Friends for the End Result...we Bless our Enemies for the progression to the end.

But both come about through both. Which is why...you never need to curse...Blessing anyone unsaved will have the same effect due to their negative state of relevation. You Bless a Heathen and you open up the Revelation of GOD upon him...and what do you suppose that feels like for a non believer...Think Revival...where the citizens of whole cities cling to lamposts as they all see visions of the ground falling away and Hell beneith...but Praise GOD...for when the Vision is past...who exactly is it that they will turn to out of fear?
