Can't say that I've tried to see how many I can bench at my own body weight. I'm about 155 and can press about 240 max. I'd guess I could probably get around 20 or so. Maybe I'll give it a shot sometime, but like you Mike, BP hurts my left shoulder and same with high reps, which is usually why I train with dumbbells 8 reps or less on most compound sets.

I weigh in around 225 lbs. I have not benched in probably 2 years. I pretty much stick with push ups now. Back when I did bench, I would warm up with 20 reps of 135, then 10 reps of 195, 10 reps of 225, 8 reps of 275. Every once and awhile I would put up 315 3 times.

Today I tried my hand in the NFL Combine BP challenge (225 lbs). I did it a couple weeks ago and got 15. Today I got 20 reps. Feeling pretty good about that.
The NFL record is 49 (set this year). |

Man, a lot of strong guys here! I was never a good bench presser...my long monkey arms make it hard, I can almost shoulder press what I can bench, lol. I managed 8 at my bodyweight of 195 about 12 years ago...probably couldn't do it once now! No real shoulder pain issues, but I stick to lighter dumbbells now.

I benched 61 reps of 80lbs the other day. Standard YMCA bench press test which put me at the "excellent" rating for age (35).
I haven't benched much in awhile but normally I would begin with 225 and work my way down to 195. I weigh 160lbs. My 1RM (repetition maximum) is 250. My goal is to get to 100 lbs over, so 260. I think I'm pretty strong overall, but stick to push ups for chest and wide grip chin ups for back.

Wow.... I'm super weak. I weigh 170 and my 1rm max is 190. The best reps I can get is 165 5x5

Yea, I have a long monkey body so I probably have monkey arms too, i'm just under 6-5 I'm not sure how long my arms are though.
