Default UFC 129

http://www.bjpenn.com/profiles/blogs...-at-ufc-129-in

It was announced today that the UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo, will make his UFC debut and first title defense with his new company at UFC 129 in Toronto on April 30th, 2011. Although his opponent is yet to be determined, the card is already loaded with super-star talent and unbelievably interesting matchups.

UFC 129 is being headlined by the welterweight title fight between Georges St. Pierre and Jake Shields. The organization also officially announced four other bouts that are set to take place on the April 30th card: Phil Davis vs. Matt Hamill, Mark Bocek vs. Benson Henderson, Jason McDonald vs. Ryan Jensen and Brian Foster vs. Sean Pierson.

The featherweight knock-out machine known as Jose Aldo (18-1) was originally scheduled to make his UFC debut at New Years Day’s UFC 125 card, but was forced to withdraw due to a back injury. Now that he is healed up and ready to go UFC brass announced on this week’s edition of “UFC Ultimate Insider” that the 145-pound king will transition into his UFC career with a featherweight title defense in Toronto at UFC 129.

Although Aldo is still awaiting his opponent, UFC president Dana White stated that if Mark Hominick is victorious in his bout this Saturday at “UFC Fight for the Troops 2” then the Canadian will get the nod to take on the champion.

Aldo, who is unbeaten since making his WEC debut in June of 2008, has gained enormous popularity over the past year and has even been taken into consideration as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. Whoever his opponent ends up being, it’s safe to say that Aldo will surely look to make a big statement in his first fight under the UFC banner. The addition of this title fight to the April 30th card is a massive plus for fans and the UFC and should attract even more Canadian fans to the Rogers Centre for UFC 129.
