Default Kid Yamamoto signed to the UFC?

You guys be the judge. I'm hoping there's more evidence of this besides a twit, but I'll take what I can get right now:

Personally I'm stoked if it is true.

I've seen this in a few places over the last 24 hours...

I'm stoked too.

UFC 126: 'Kid' Yamamoto vs Demetrious Johnson booked for Feb. 5 in Las Vegas
by Johnny WF on Dec 10, 2010 3:50 PM EST

That was fast.

Just one day after officially being signed to the Zuffa roster, International featherweight and soon-to-be-bantamweight fighter Norifumi Yamamoto has been given his first opponent, according to MMA Weekly.

And like fellow new-hire Michihiro Omigawa, no happy welcome awaits him inside the Octagon.

That's because Demetrious Johnson, coming off an impressive submission over hard-hitting Damacio Page, will greet the Japanese superstar at UFC 126: "Silva vs. Belfort" on Feb. 5 in Las Vegas in what (if we live in a sane universe) will be a spectacular showdown at 135-pounds.

An undersized Featherweight who used to fight at Lightweight, Yamamoto was all but untouchable until 2007, when he left MMA to try his hand at Olympic Freestyle wresting in the 132-pound class. Unfortunately, an elbow injury dragged him back into the ring, where he lost to Joe Warren in his first fight in two years.

"Kid" subsequently lost again to Masanori Kanehara and lost some additional luster after going he 1-3 in kickboxing, facing and losing to such legends as Masato and "Iron" Mike Zambidis.

Will he regain championship form? We'll find out soon.

UFC 126 will feature a headlining bout of middleweight champion Anderson Silva defending his strap against the fast hands of Vitor Belfort in a fight that was originally scheduled for UFC 112.

The undercard consists of a 205-pound clash between friends as Forrest Griffin takes on Rich Franklin while a monumental showdown pitting rising prospects against each other in Jon Jones vs Ryan Bader will also take place.

Stay tuned to MMAMania.com for future updates to this still-developing fight card.

This is awesome. I know Kid has lost a few lately, but I'm just glad I finally get to see him fight on PPV for a change. A fight with Butt Chin is something that I'd still pay tons to see.

How the world has changed...its so nice that these fighters can be awarded the ability to fight in their own weight divisions. Rather then being forced to fight higher weights.
