Default Josh Thomson: UFC/WEC Merger Is A Nice Way Of Saying That WEC Is A Failure

ďThey made it sound so great that a company went under, the simple fact of the matter was that the WEC failed and they put it with the UFC to carry it.

To compare WEC lightweights to Strikeforce and the UFC is not fair because if they were that good, they would have been fighting for the UFC. I think the world of (Jamie) Varner, but I beat Hermes (Franca) and Hermes beat Varner. Varner was the WEC champ for awhile. So, where does that leave us?

Iím thinking (my next fight) will probably end up being Kawajiri, thatís a fight I might kick back and wait for. Iíve wanted that fight forever. Heís somebody that excites me.

If I fought Kawajiri and lost, it wouldnít distract me, but if I lost to somebody that I wasnít supposed to lose to, then I would start to wonder. To be honest, I had that feeling with the Pat Healy fight.

Basically, that would have been one of those fights where if I had lost, I would have thought, ĎIs this really for me anymore?Ē

To be honest, I have always enjoyed WEC events much more than I have Strikeforce events.
I don't think WEC failed.
That is what Strikeforce is going to do in the near future.(I don't give them 2 years)
Just my opinion.

i wouldn't say that the wec was a failure, but people like seeing bigger guys fight .. i think the lighter weights will just be fine in the ufc ... they will get more exposure, be on better cards and be mixed in well ...
