On a serious note, he is lucky his dog did that 'cause now he knows he has diabetes. A man from my sister's church had the same thing happen to him (infected toe) and, like this guy, didn't go to the doctor--he ended up in the hospital lucky to have his foot. The doctor was very upset he let it go that long and his wife was very upset with him too (she's a diabetic). Now he is pretty much blind and in terrible shape. He was a lawyer. Sad. Diabetes is nothing to fool around with.

I actually had a patient who his lap dog chewed off the end of his big (rotten) toe. But he didn't finish off the bone. We had to prep him for surgery to clean it up and snip the bone off.

I have worked traumas with arms ripped off, legs smushed by boulders, eyes gouged out or hanging out the side of the face, brains oozing from the skull and did okay. But that toe almost brought me down.

Yuck that poor dog "ate all the infection" ....he's got a belly full of infection!!

how will that not kill the dog?!?
