Lexington wins state math contest

Lexington students took three out of the four top spots in Saturday's state Mathcounts Competition in Louisville.

Elaine Lin of Beaumont Middle School won 1st place. Valerie Sarge of Winburn Middle School won 2nd. Brian Zhu of Meyzeek Middle School took 3rd, and Kathleen Yang of Winburn finished 4th.

Beaumont and Winburn are in Lexington; Meyzeek is in Louisville.

One hundred and fifty students from 49 schools participated. The four top finishers were awarded full scholarships to either the University of Kentucky or University of Louisville. They also get a free trip to the national math competition next month in Orlando.

Congrats to the students for something that is positive, seems to me, all people want to do is tell the bad stuff kids do, very good, thanks.
