Just wondering if there are any wine drinkers here?? I'm not talking about expensive wines, just fairly inexpensive wine that you can pick up someplace like Trader Joes or just your local grocer.
What I've liked is sweet wine.Red, white, doesnt matter as long as it's at least a little sweet. I need names, brands, label names. Any suggestions?? (must be 21 to comment |

Never really bought wine, and I don't drink anymore.
But if anybody is interested when the time comes around I make some really good blackberry wine. |

I'm quite the wino. What exactly are you looking for?
I'm not a big fan of dark, tanniny reds, but I do have a few whites and tables wines I highly recommend. EDIT: I see you like sweet. Start with white merlot by Sutter Homes. That's a nice, sweet wine for 5 bucks or so. Also, stick with table wines, and desert wines, if sweet is what you're really after. Not that I think you would do this, but don't feel bad if your palate is more suited for the cheaper wines, I know mine is. For example, I enjoy a 10 dollar bottle of Yellow Tail Chardonnay over a 25 dollar "better" Chardonnay. Also, for beginners and rule of thumb: Red wine for red meats, whites for leaner meats, and Chardonnay for fish and seafood. |

A lower priced bottle of wine doesn't equal cheap. Usually it means it's an up and coming wine, or it's a local wine. Let your senses determine what you enjoy, not the price.

Dessert wines are sweet and quite tasty. There's one in particular that I looove but I can never remember the name. I have to go to the liquor store and look for it. The bottle shape is quite distinctive. I have a chardonnay called Fat Bastard that I haven't opened but have heard is really good. I bought it for the funny name. I also bought one for my brother for his birthday one year. Nothing says love like "Fat Bastard" wine.

See I thought this would be a Serra appreciation thread... Woodbridge is a good store brand.. go into any "high dollar" grocery store in the early mornings on a Monday and Thursday and you can normally find the wine vendors. Most of those guys are willing to help.. just tell them what you like..
