Fedor Emelianenko will make his Strikeforce debut against Brett Rogers but no date or venue have been named, Strikeforce vice president Mike Afromowitz confirmed to MMAWeekly.com.
Emelianenko, the top ranked heaavyweight in the world, inked a deal with Strikeforce on August 3 after Affliction decided it would no longer promote mixed martial arts events following the cancellation of Affliction: "Trilogy" that was scheduled to be headlined by Josh Barnett and Emelianenko. Emelianenko made a name for himself in the Pride organization rising to the top of the heavyweight division. He dismantled former UFC heavyweight titleholders Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski in his last two outings. Rogers, an undefeated heavyweight with a record of 10-0, is coming off a 22 second knockout win over Andrei Arlovski on June 6. There have been rumors of an Oct. 10 date, but Afromowitz wouldn't confirm that date at this time. Good lord this man’s legacy becomes more diminished by the fight. Should have signed with the UFC |

Dana can't say anything at this point as his HW div is also weak .. to be fair, if he calls Rogers a can, he will have to call Carwin the same thing .. two big undefeated dudes each coming off the biggest wins of their careers to fairly big names ... in this case, i would say that rogers is more proven than carwin ...
oh .. and if both rogers and carwin win, dana can set up a Superfight between the two undefeated champs ... LOL |

nope, no doubt he will win but he spends more time off or fighting cans than he does proving himself anymore, at least affliction gave us a brief demonstration of what people rave about. However when that died he once again had the chance to fight in the only org that matters but passed it up AGAIN due to yet more stupid co-promotion ideas. Fedor v Brock or Randy has somewhat more clout that Rogers in my opinion. |

Fedor is proving himself to me. He is proving that some men still value some things over money. That ranks him pretty far up there in my book. |

why is the supposed "best P4P fighter in the world" fighting a non-top 10 HW?
fedor is not P4P as long as he keeps fighting UFC has-beens, cans, or non-top 10 fighters. while he is fighting these guys once per year, there are people like GSP, anderson and penn fighting the top fighters in the world at their weight class continuously and 3 times a year. he has nothing to gain from this fight and everything to lose. if he loses this fight it will be the biggest upset in MMA history |
