i don't rank someone higher than someone else solely because they beat them. i rank someone mainly on what they have done in the division in the past year or two. anderson silva has only had 2 fights at LHW in his entire life, and only one of them was against a top contender. james irvin wasn't even in the top ten. forrest has fought at LHW his whole life, beaten multiple top contenders over the past few years and was recently the LHW champion. that's why i rank him higher than silva.

once again i don't rank via MMath, i don't rank someone higher or lower than someone else just because they beat them. there are other factors. i.e. forrest has lost his last two fights by being knocked out, where shogun has won his last two fights in impressive fashion, especially against liddell. shogun is now the #1 contender and is fighting for the title in just a month or two so that is why i rank him higher than forrest at the moment.

and once again i don't rank someone higher than someone else just because they beat them... there are other factors. in this case, rich franklin has only had 2 fights at LHW in the past 4 years, and he only won 1 of them. hammill has been fighting at LHW for years. IMO there is no way rich franklin should even be in the top 10 LHW just for 1 win in the past 4 years. that would be like patrick cote going back up to LHW after many years and getting in the top 10 after only 1 win.

i base rankings off of recent performances (last couple years) and matt hasn't beaten a top fighter since 2006 which was against BJ penn. he is 3-5 in his last five fights and that is why i ranked him so low, but after looking at it again i wish i had ranked him right below alves and not below kampman or even kosckech because kosckeck hasn't looked very good lately. i don't know what i was thinking there. if hughes gets a top fighter and beats him next that will boost him way up again IMO and i wouldn't be surprised if UFC gives him a title shot within another win or two
