It must really be a science to try and balance putting on muscle for strength and power yet not pounds so you don't have to cut too much before the fight.

I've always wondered what, if any, long-term effects it has on these fighters bodies gaining weight then having to cut weight over and over or if the time between the fights makes this negligible.
