Tim Boetsch vs. Costa Philippou

Round 1:
Kim Winslow is the referee for this one. Opening exchange leads to a Greco clinch, Philippou against the cage. Boetsch throws occasional knees. Boetsch goes for a single leg and Philippou hits the mat, but Philippou grabs a half-hearted guillotine. They're back on their feet. More clinch work. Philippou breaks free and scampers to safety. Lots of dancing and circling, but not much action. Boetsch with a front kick. Philippou catches a charging Boetsch with a solid uppercut. They clinch as Boetsch clears the cobwebs. Boetsch with a takedown. Philippou ties him up. One minute left. Winslow stands them up with 30 seconds left. Philippou opens up with a combo. Boetsch drops him in the closing seconds, but the horn sounds before he can follow up.

Round 2:
Another clinch battle breaks out, as Boetsch seems content to grind this fight out. One minute in, they reset in center Octagon. Boetsch's forehead is cut open, didn't see what caused it. Philippou sprawls a takedown attempt and tries to line up a knee to the head as Boetsch slips, but Boetsch keeps one hand on the ground. Back standing, midway through the round. Boetsch catches an eye poke and Winslow calls time-out. The doctor comes in to check Boetsch, and he's cleared to fight. Boetsch throws a front kick and Philippou and uppercut. Philippou again sprawls a takedown attempt. A scramble ends up with Phillppou in in control. He opens up a series of punches and elbows, and now Boetsch is cut open bad. Strong finish for Philippou.

Round 3:
Boetsch goes for a takedown and can't get it. Philippou lands a couple hammerfists to the the downed Beotsch before ending up in his guard. Boetsch eas a couple more shots and tries to keep the fight on the ground, but Philippou gets up and Winslow makes Boetsch stand. Boetsch is cut open something fierce. They hit the ground again, Philippou starts landing right hands. Boetsch looks like he wants nothing to do with the fight anymore. Winslow stops it.
