Melvin Guillard vs. Fabrício Camoes

Round 1:
Yves Lavigne is the referee for this lightweight battle. Neither fighter touches gloves to start. Guillard opens up early on his feet. Camoes changes levels for a single-leg but Guillard counters then shakes it off. Camoes lunges forward with a superman punch, misses, but nearly gets a takedown in the process. Guillard calmly circles back to the center of the Octagon and gauges his distance. "The Young Assassin" catches a kick and traps Camoes against the fence with a salvo of punches, but nothing lands clean. Guillard slips a jab and, surprisingly, wrestles Camoes down to the mat. Guillard steps over into half guard. Though it's short lived, as Camoes quickly reverses to top position. Camoes sweeps to full mount and the blows start raining down. Guillard nearly gives up his neck, but Camoes over-extends and Guillard scampers back up. Camoes misses with a kick and tumbles down to the mat, with Guillard following him. Guillard landing punches from the top as the round comes to a close.

Round 2:
Guillard attacks first with a left hook. Camoes double jabs and backs the American up. Another lunging left hook from Guillard, and another. Nothing landing clean for either fighter. Camoes grazes Guillard with a spinning heel kick, then unsuccessfully shoots for a takedown. Camoes tries again and this he gets it this time, briefly dragging Guillard to the ground. The Brazilian crowd explodes with chants of, "Brazil!" Camoes is loving it, and he uses the energy to work Guillard down against the fence. Guillard stands, barely eats a spinning back elbow, then takes his opponent's back. "The Young Assassin" starts pummeling the Brazilian's head and body with unanswered shots.

Round 3:
Guillard bouncing on his heels as a "U, S, A!" chant erupts from the crowd. Both fighters trade combinations as the chants of "Brazil!" return. Guillard leaps forward with a left hook but it's blocked. Another pair of lefts miss and "The Young Assassin" circles. Guillard staying patient, prying with his jab from distance. Camoes rips into Guillard with a leg kick, then just misses with a front kick. Guillard slips a head kick, defends a single leg and backs out. Guillard briefly trips and scrambles back to his feet, before defending another takedown attempt. Camoes eventually drags the fight to the mat and starts working on a leglock. Ten seconds left and Guillard looks like he'll survive.

Melvin Guillard def. Fabrício Camoes via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
