Oropharyngeal cancer incidence is rapidly increasing in young people likely due to Human Papilloma Virus infection. I wouldn't be surprised if his tumor was precipitated by HPV. Hopefully, deaths like this will be a thing of the past with the introduction of the HPV vaccine in young people. RIP.
