I probably shouldn't say anything (what is the old saying?: "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all") but this song absolutely makes my skin crawl. I assume it must be based on Psalm 42. My problem isn't necessarily with the lyrics. The music and style of the song is insipid. It actually gives me the creeps. It sounds like a bad 1970's love song from BREAD or Dan Fogelberg or the Captain & Tennille. I can almost picture Tennille singing it a few inches from the Captain's face right before an awful kiss. In my opinion, an example of "Jesus is my boyfriend" music. If I heard it at a new church I was attending, I would probably turn around and leave and never come back.
"Be of good comfort, Master Ridley, and play the man! We shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out."
