According to UFC President Dana White at yesterday's UFC 129 press conference:
Five-round main event non-title fights may go a long way in proving who the better fighter is, but does a championship bout then lose some of its luster if there's nothing to distinguish it (besides the title) from a standard main event?

The Title is distinguishing enough, I think. Besides, Main Event status usually comes with a high pay grade and better sponsorships. I imagine if there is an increase for 5 round fights as it can mean longer TV exposure for a brand. It's better for the fighters.
