Those exercises build-up the strength for other things too.

Before when I used to try a one arm pull-up I couldn't bend my elbow at all. now after training the front and back levers I am able pull-up a lot better then before... still not close to doing it though.

This is me doing a good gymnastic exercise called a muscle-up.
It's a pull-up with a dip at the top

They're hard to learn but it feels really good once you learn them.
