Judging Changes Proposed to Unified Rules of MMA
The Association of Boxing Commissions has proposed many many significant updates/clarifications/guidelines/etc. to the Unified Rules of MMA. They will be voting on whether or not to accept these changes during next week's ABC conference. Here's the a link to the PDF file that lays everything out:

For those of you too lazy to read the short PDF, here's

I think all those changes are great for the sport. IMO though I would like to see 10-10 rounds used more than they are right now.

My 2 biggest changes:
1. I like their concept of the "Lay & Pray" but I'm against all standups, period. If you can't get up, that's your own problem. 2. Knees to a downed opponent. Hear me out, I'm fine with no knees to the head if the opponent is actually down, but putting your hand on the ground to avoid knees to the head is BS. If it's an elbow, hip, knee, etc., then it's fine, but the hand/fist/knuckles, no way! |
