It's directed by Ridley Scott, who also directed the 1979 film Alien (along with other big movies like Legend, Bladerunner, Gladiator, etc.). From what I've read, it was originally supposed to take place in the same universe as the Alien series, but grew into something completely different. You can still see some visual ties to the original 1979 film, however.

Really excited about this one.

yeah I jsut caught the trailer yesterday and it looks pretty awesome. I might even drag my self to the theatre for this one. LOL

so this is out on video now .. anyone see it?? worth getting on BD?

I've heard too many bad or lackluster reviews, so I'm going to wait until it hits the dollar rentals.

If I had heard some actual positive reviews of the movie, then I might be more interested in seeing it. As it is, the most positive review of this film I've heard started out with "It was okay, but...."

I was dissapointed...but that might be just coz I had such high hopes :laugh:

i rented it ... i didn't have high hopes, but i kinda liked it .... things started to get silly near the end ... but its sci fi ..

See I thought it started off well...but it got really bad, where people suddenly knew things that other members of the cast knew without that having been shared...it was a let down because Preditors was so good...IMHO Prometheus is a BIG flop in the genre, akin to Alien 3...not since then have they produced such a poor product :sad:

I haven't gotten around to seeing Prometheus yet, but this video still makes me laugh:
