Fitch/Penn Is A No Go!

Ouch!!!

http://www.mmamania.com/2011/3/30/20...penn#storyjump

The rematch the world so badly wanted is no more.

That's because Jon Fitch has reportedly suffered an injury during training for his UFC 132 fight against B.J. Penn and has been forced to pull out of the bout, according to MMAWeekly.com.

It is not known at this time exactly what the injury is, however it is presumed to be rather serious considering the two weren't scheduled to lock horns again until July 2 in Las Vegas.

That fight was set to be a rematch of their UFC 127 clash after the two battled to a draw "Down Under." This presented quite the problem for Dana White and company, as the contest was a number one contender bout for the welterweight title.

Now that the rematch has been nixed, what's next for the 170-pound strap? And with a search underway to find a replacement for Fitch, who will "The Prodigy" be taking on in "Sin City" now?

Malki Kawa, a prominent agent in the world of MMA, has been on Twitter dropping hints about a "big" fight he recently got for one of his employees, welterweight Carlos Condit.

And with the timing of Fitch's injury, it seems plausible that "The Natural Born Killer" could step right in to fill the void.

That's just speculation but if it does come to fruition, would anyone object? Or is there a 170-pound fighter better suited to take on Penn with a potential title shot on the line?

Let's hear it, Maniacs.

Paul Daley! Oh wait, he can't make weight, or make a UFC career.

Honestly, I'd like to see Thiago Alves fight BJ Penn.

WOW! Never thought about that one. I hate to admit it but I think Thiago would be pretty tough for BJ to beat. I wouldnt put any money on either. You all know I am a huge BJ fan so that should tell you something.

As much as I Like Condit I dont think he could beat bj but that would be a great fight that I wouldnt mind seeing.

I suppose the only question would be if Thiago could make weight on a short notice. I don't know if he balloons between fights or not. My guess would be that he doesn't so if it's all about cutting water, he should be able to do it.
