Interesting!!!! Five by Five
Five by Five: The UFC is 'probably' going to implement five-round main event non-title fights
According to UFC President Dana White at yesterday's UFC 129 press conference: Quote:

I say.. yes to 5 round fights.. all around.. not just the "main event"...
Why?? Cause some of my favorite fighters aren't in the main events right now.. and I would love to see full shows more often.. |

I agree, the belt is enough distinguishment. It also helps out the eventual title contender in a sense that it's not going to his first five round fight (presuming he's been in a main event before.)
I wonder if this would this apply to all UFC events or just PPVs. I bring this up because Jon Jones has been in the main event on two occasions, but it wasn't on a large PPV card(UFC Live 1/2). Later. |

Sooner or later the UFC will have to institute some sort of a "shot clock" mentality or it will lose the casual fans. And like it or not I think the real money in ALL sports comes from the casual fan more than the die hards. |
Make 'em all 5 rounds and bring back Pride's yellow card for stalling.

I've thought the same thing for a long time. 5 rounds for all fights, period.
