What is Matt's fight day routine?
My fight day routine involves shopping for snacks for during the fight and taking a nap so I can actually stay awake to enjoy it!
But what does Matt do? |

I'd like to hear about Matt too. |
From the fights I've gone to, he'll spend most of the day just relaxing, usually playing cards or watching TV in the hotel. He won't leave his room unless he has to do something for the UFC, but then it's usually straight there and straight back. He'll take a nap sometime in the afternoon, someone will order a meal for him from room service, and then it's just waiting around until it's time to go the arena.

Thanks Nate!!!!!:) Then at the arena he does his warm up and everything? What does he eat? Does he carb load like my sister does before a marathon? Does he eat light?
Did he train at all yesterday? Or does he have a recovery period a few days before the fight? Well MY fight day routine is right on target! Just woke up from a nap and now I'm headed to the store to get some goodies! :) I can't wait! :frantics: |

I've been wearing my Team Hughes shirt since yesterday, I have butterflies and feel slightly sick with pre-fight anxiety. Sounds like Matt is more calm than a lot of us fans! |

Here's the video of Matt cutting weight for the Serra fight, so it gives you an idea of what he goes through: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDkD9U-sTyw Quote:

Matt is such a good sport to stop and sign autographs and take pictures (and Audra is very understanding, having all the girls hugging on him!).
That weight-cutting routine is just torturous, Nate, I hadn't seen that video before. Matt is very stoic, I remember how some guys on TUF moaned and whined - or wimped out altogether. It seems like that process would put a strain on the heart? Or am I totally off-base about that? Why don't fighters just try to stay at their fighting weight? |
