Dave Does Charity 2013

Hello.

If any of my international friends feel like sponcering me for taking part in the Nidderdale Walk 22 Mile Walk over the weekend of May 20th then you can make a one off donation through the following website

http://www.bmycharity.com/nidderdale2013

I am raising money for my chosen charity this year which is Help The Heros, a charity that provides money for looking after members of the armed forces who come back from active duty with corperal damage, and helps rehabilitate them etc.

If you feel like you can spare even a small amount of money, any amount would be gratefully received, the website will allow you to donate to the charity directly.

Thanks

Amor Et Fides

David Duff (Tyburn)

I tell you what was strange about this walk, which because of the terrain with climbing up and down hills that I wasnt really prepared for...my millage and time is really bizzare.

Soooo between Checkpoint One in Gouthwaite and Checkpoint Three in Lofthouse is supposedly Eight miles. Starting at 7.30, I got there at 10.30. Thats Eight miles across reasonable terrain in 3 hours...which is fine. The Three miles between Checkpoint Three in Lofthouse and Checkpoint Four at Scarhouse, is supposed to be Three miles, but is actually five miles. Starting at 10.30 I got there at 14.00. Thats three and a half hours for five miles due to the terrible terrain. Its Four Miles from Checkpoint Four at Scarhouse back to via Middlesmoor, to Lofthouse....Oh...I left Scarhouse at 2pm....How was I able to reach Lofthouse by 3.30 pm??????. Then Lofthouse to Bouthwaite is four miles...and I got to Bouthwaite by 5pm???? and so I made Checkpoint one at Gouthwaite at 5.50 with ten mins to spare.

Now...something else happened...I wasnt aware of the change in terrain after lofthouse and my fluid provisions ran out at Checkpoint Four at Scarhouse. I then had to climb the tallest hill on the course and cross the largest area of moorland and the blisteringly hottest part of the day. I didnt think I would ever be able to make it back, let alone within the time.

I remember praying and asking for help because I was burning in the sun, dehydrated and in danger of heatstroke...and suddenly, I'm able to move at nearly twice the speed :laugh:

Five miles over difficult terrain without prayer equates to 3 and a half hours.
Four Miles over difficult terrain WITH prayer equates to an hour and a half

:happydancing::happydancing::happydancing:

I might have prayed sooner had I known

I was absolutely appalled by the ruthless murder of the British soldier on the streets of England by Muslim terrorists. For those who are not aware, he was wearing a t-shirt with the name of Tyburn's charity at the time of his murder. I made a donation in honor of the murdered soldier. Please donate as well if you are able. God bless Tyburn for his participation in fundraising for this charity.

Sadly, its very true, the Serving Soldier was killed in London and he was wearing a Help For The Heroes Jumper, which aids service men and women who are hurt whilst on active duty.

They began by slamming their motorcar off the road and pinning him against a lamp-post, They cut him up with meat cleavers, dragged him into the middle of the road and then chopped his head off, before trying to justify their actions to horrified passersby and forcing them to film it. Three Women did approach the killers seconds after the soldier was killed, and on grounds of compassion they were permitted to attend to him...but he was already dead, so they prayed beside his body instead.

After quarter of an hour, an armed response team showed up, and the killers tried to attack, in the hopes of becoming martyrs. That didnt go so well when the firearm used by the killers to attack the police backfired violently maiming the terrorists, giving the police the chance to shoot them, but they were not killed. They are currently receiving treatment for gunshots.

I may not have raised a huge ammount for this cause, and some of that might have been due to myself being lapse on promotion, but I do feel like I have given something to aid the cause which has been directly attacked in this unfortunate event....and I am very grateful to anyone who has joined me

Congratulations, Dave, on completing your charity walk! :applause:

My prayers go out to Lee Rigby's loved ones. It was heart wrenching watching his family on tv earlier, and they said he has a two-year old boy.

For Lee and all the Heroes....
