My Zebbies are breeding in the aviary!

In September I paired them up, brought them inside where its warm and quiet, and they wouldnt breed....so I put them all back and they started building nests...frightened of eggbinding I wanted to know where they were nesting, so I provided nest boxes...Beryl and Martin started laying eggs, successfully incubated right across the christmas period

the first chick hatched alive today :ashamed:

Short lived im afraid...the chick didnt make it through the night..I dont think they knew what to do with it once it hatched...they didnt know how to feed it...and when it died, they ate it up.

none of the other four eggs in the clutch have hatched yet....She's so protective of the nest that she wont leave even if I put my hand in :laugh: I had to remove the entire nest and take it into the house, and she didnt flinch an inch...finally I was able to see four unhatched eggs and no chick :sad:
