This has all the making of a great game. The Steelers have the best defense in the league, but the Cardinals have arguably the best offense in the league. I have not been this excited in a while.

I just don't think Pittsburgh will be able to shut down both Fitzgerald and Boldin. Besides that, Warner just has too many options. Like Hughes_GOAT said in the other thread, if Phillip Rivers can pass for 300 yards on the Steelers, what do you think Kurt Warner is gonna do?

I am hoping and praying, and I have faith that Kurt Warner will be bringing that trophy back to the desert!

not even sweating it. only thing to maybe worry about is the Cardinals might have their 2 starting DE's out. other than that, it should go a lot like the last time they played. Roethlisberger getting picked twice and sacked 4 times and Cardinals winning.

Steelers by 14.

14? wow....that's an insane point spread. i think only the Pats had a 14 point-point spread like that in last year's SB. the Steelers are currenty at 7 right now.

Man, Denis Green should get a lot of credit for putting this team together ... but it happens all the time ... i think the steelers might pull this off, but when warner is in doubt, throw the ball in the air and fitz will come down with it ... that guy is unbelievable

Like Hughes_GOAT said in the other thread, if Phillip Rivers can pass for 300 yards on the Steelers, what do you think Kurt Warner is gonna do?
It was really only 3 drives in which SD was really able to move the ball. The first drive of the game and then 2 more in the 4th when the Steelers were up 28-10. Warner does not do well when he gets hit and the Steelers will hit him. In the end the Steelers will win and the Cards dream season will end.

they still only won by 7 pts and that was LAST SEASON.

7 points is a ton in pro football. any point spread over 7 is crazy and you should take the under. the Cardinals won with freaking Leinart driving them down the field :D

exactly! but more to the point, Rivers had the ball once in the 3rd and still had those numbers. the Colts, Giants, Titans and Eagles beat the Steelers this year. why is this important?

1.) those teams passed the ball well against the Steelers.

2.) Roethlisberger had turnovers and was sacked multiple times in those games.

3.) the Cards did just that last season, sacking him 4 times and getting 2 picks. they won that game.

4.) this year in the playoffs, who has the most turnovers forced? pretty sure it's Arizona, could be wrong but if i am, it's not by much.

5.) Whisenhunt and Grimm know the Steelers defense because they practiced against them everyday. they also know the Steelers offense, since they ran it. they know player tendencies.

6.) "Whiz knows everything about all of us," Parker said. "He's a smart coach and I know he's going to try to take advantage [of his familiarity]."

That was the case the last time these two teams played, a 21-14 victory by the Cardinals on Sept. 30, 2007. After that game, in which Arizona harassed Roethlisberger into two interceptions and sacked him four times, Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes said the Cardinals knew how to find their soft spots.

"He was sending guys left and right, bringing pressure as much as he could to try and disrupt our offense," Holmes said after that game.

and the Cardinals aren't? this is like the GSP vs BJ argument. everyone says GSP has improved and BJ hasn't, LOL.

the Steelers have the same players. the Cards won because Whisenhunt knows them. just like the Bucs beat the Raiders because Gruden knew them. Tomlin doesn't know the Cards.

I agree that the Cards are a better team than they were last year I just dont think the Steelers will make the same mistakes they made last year.

As for what you said in your other post.

In 2 of the 4 games the Steelers lost they gave up more than 200 yards passing (Collins - 215 and Manning 240)

As for the turnovers, if you take away that game where J. Delhomme went color blind and thought his team was wearing red the Steelers and Cards have forced the same amount of turnovers.

In the end the Steelers will prove they are the better team and will get number 6

San Diego's passing game is good, but Arizona is much better. The Cards defense is also playing great right now and I think they have a great shot at shutting Pittsburgh down.

You are right, the dream season will end, but it's gonna end with a championship.:D

Arizona reminds me of Indy when they won the title. their defense sucked in the regular season but they stepped it up in the playoffs.

i was talking TD passes for the most part. TD's are what killed them, not the yardage. they also distributed the ball well, not giving it to one or two guys. Steelers can't blitz like they want with Boldin and Fitzgerald IMO. they also have Breaston who is way underrated. as long as Arizona goes 4 and 5 wide, Pitt will have to show who's blitzing or just flat out not blitz.

they can't double Boldin and Fitz and then blitz. they can double one but not the other. they can't cover them one on one for damn sure. :D Pitt is gonna have to play more coverage and suck it up. don't force the blitz because Warner will shred them like he did the Eagles. the same Eagles who sacked Roethlisberger 9 times. the same Eagles who probably blitz more than Pitt, LOL.

as for the Panthers game, if you took away individual game statistics from every team, most teams would have similar stats. the point is they got the turnovers. if Flacco didn't throw that pick in the 4th quarter or the other ones early on, maybe the Steelers don't win, see what i mean?

the Cards are playing on defense like the Colts when they won the SB.

the thing that people are overlooking and that is extremely impressive is this:

Arizona had the number 2 passing offense in the league but had the worst rushing offense too. teams knew they were going to pass because they couldn't run. Arizona was still able to pas. now in the playoffs, they can run it. teams won't know what to do because the Cards are a threat to run it.

and their defense has been looking like the '47 Cardinals. regular season they sucked for sure but in the playoffs, they are a different defense. hopefully they will have their 2 starting DE's in the SB? if not, obviously that favors Pitt running it.

What does that prove?

Not to mention the fact that it is silly to just act like it wasn't AZ's defense who made the right plays to force the picks against Carolina.

in the 4 games they lost they gave up a total of 6 passing TD's. Only Manning had more than 1 (he had 3). THey lost those 4 games because they turned the ball over. If I remember correctly they had 13 turnovers in those 4 games.

i already said that they turned the ball over and gave up sacks. it was part of my 6 or 7 points earlier in this thread.

and who leads the playoffs in turnovers? Arizona.

and 6 tds in 4 games is still a lot for a defense that is number 1. that averages out to 24 passing tds allowed a year.

I am making my first post on the new boards the SUPER BOWL thread!

So lets continue the discussion!

All i can say is, i am gutted. After reading your posts with Chuck, i thought you sounded as if you knew more about the Cardinals strenghts than the bookies.

Checked the odds before the semi final and the Cardinals were 15/1!

I forgot to do it and seeing how impressive they were, them odds have massively shortened.

I was planning a $25 bet as well!

So now i am undecided, Steelers to win so i feel better but then after reading it all, im quite attached to the Cardinals and there long suffering fans!!!!!
