I've had an HP PSC 1510 All-In-One (printer too) for a couple of years now.It still works great except one thing...I got a new computer in December and since I've had my printer/scanner hooked up to it my computer just doesn't seem to reconise the scanner part. When I hit the scanner button the light blinks on the power switch like it used to as it actually scanned but now after a few blinks it just stops and doesnt scan.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and how do I fix it?
Whoever helps me first gets a surprise! :w00t:

By the way I've already uninstalled and reinstalled a few times now so don't tell me to do that.

I would assume it's a Vista computer since it's new? Most likely, you don't have the correct software because it would only contain XP drivers on your CD-ROM. I know that printer, I used to have one :)

Most likely, you don't have the correct drivers and you will need to go to hp.com to get the new ones.

Here's a troubleshoot on hp's website.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00809848&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=428800&os=2093&lang=en

In case you need to reinstall it, don't use the CD-ROM that came with it because there will (most likely) be a newer version on their website that will include the proper drivers for Vista. To reinstall, follow these steps:

1. Uninstall it.
2. Go to www.hp.com
3. Click on "Support & Drivers"
4. Step 1 - choose "Download drivers and software (and firmware)"
5. Step 2 - enter your product number "HP PSC 1510"
6. Select your model number (I'm assuming it's just "HP PSC 1510 All-in-One Printer")
7. Select your Operating System.
8. (I'm using Vista so I will use it as the example)...Download the software under "HP Full Feature Software and Drivers"

This should give you the most updated software available for your HP.

It's telling me that Vista does not reconise my printer/scanner:laugh:
But it does give me directions how to scan manually BUT it says:

Workaround
Choose one of the following options to scan without using the scan button.
Option one: Scan using Windows Fax and Scan

1.
Click the Windows icon ( ), click Programs , and then click Windows Fax and Scan .
NOTE: The Windows Fax and Scan option is available in the Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise editions of Windows Vista. If you have the Home Basic or Home Premium edition of Windows Vista, skip to Option two: Scan using Paint .
2.
Click New scan .
3.
Click File , and then click Scan .

Option two: Scan using Paint

1.
Click the Windows icon ( ), click Programs , and then click Accessories .
2.
Click Paint .
3.
Click File , and then click From Scanner or Camera .
4.
Click Scan .

Cause
The drivers in the Windows Vista operating system do not support button press functionality on the product.

And I don't see it

Are you installing from the CD-ROM? If so, you need to uninstall the printer and reinstall using the updated Vista drivers.

No it won't work that way. I have to "go around it" but when I click on the Windows(start) button I'm supposed to see "fax/scan" someplace and click on it to scan manually but...well...I'm blind I guess because I don't see it!

That's always the best solution, but from her description, she'd already bypassed that.

I used to work an IT Dept. and you'd be surprised how many times that solves a Windows-based problem.
