:) this morning the Farmers Market was in town, and there was this one farm that breed Ostrich for meat. The guy told me he was selling Ostrich Burgers...so I bought one. He told me its got a high content of protein, more so then other well eaten meats.

Its a red meat thats quite rough and textured, but once cooked its really quite smooth. Its unfortunately also quite bland. But I enjoyed it.

Got me thinking what is the most bizzare thing you've ever eaten?...and where, and when, and what was it like?

They were selling off some kinda wildboar as well...and woodpigeons...but you had to cook them yourself...if they had done tasters I'd have tried them, but I wasnt gonna buy some and cook it later

Oh and I've eaten a buffalo burger. I think that was after someone here recommended it ( what a follower I know ) It was ok, not great, not bad or weird.

When I was small, my dad used to pay me $1 to try mystery dishes...it was usually some form of small game or "vermin"...

The "normal" meats I've eaten

Beef, Pork, Chicken, Elk, Moose, Bear, Venison(deer), Rabbit, Alligator, Ostrich (jerky), Rattlesnake, Buffalo(Almost forgot that one), and more kinds of fish than I care to try and remember.

For the record, I am in no way a hunter, and most of that list was killed by my father and/or brother, who enjoy hunting and own a place in Alaska to kill the bigger stuff like Moose and Bear.

I'm at the top of the food chain. I'll eat almost any animal they put in front of me. This does not necessarily include insects, worms, etc. I'd have to be literally starving to do that.

I ate pig intestines sauted up in its blood...that was gross! It was in Maui and it was at my boss's wedding, its a traditional delicacy. Other than that, the worst I have had is cat....made by my friend who wont eat Turkey, they think its a dirty food in her country! Umm, it tasted like chicken. My old neighbor actually raised cats to eat!

She was from the Philippines....although all the gross food I ate was in Hawaii when I lived there....even all the little kids used to eat all the gross stuff--I can't turn down any challenge so of course I had to try it!

no, they kill the cats in the streets and feed them to unsuspecting locals like me ... this was in cancun, hence why there are no stray cats .. LOL ..

that is what i was told by a local .. he said, try and buy a taco for the guy running the taco stand and more than likely he will not eat it ..

I've eaten balut. For those who don't know what balut is, it's a Filipino delicacy consisting is a fertilized chicken (or duck) egg with a nearly-developed embryo inside that is boiled and eaten in the shell.

Tastes like chicken.

When I was in the Philippines, I had an opportunity to eat dog, but the owner of the dog was my (at that time) fiancee's favorite aunt and she was crying so much (the dog was a little jerk anyways) that I just couldn't heart myself to do it. Ok, honestly, I couldn't get away from her to go try it, lol. Maybe in 2012!

Last to mention....SPAM YUCK!!!!

Believe me in places like Cancun, Mazatlan, etc they love tourists it is good for the economy in they're area. Thats how a lot of people feed they're families.
