View Full Version : Why The Royal Wedding would have been better at Saint Paul's Cathedral

I dont mean to be funny...but when I watched the Bridal Entrance I was deeply dissapointed. She came in to Parrys magnificent setting of the Psalm which is used in the Coronation of the British Monarchy.

If you watch at point 3.15 you will observe the introit

(Incidently you can continue to watch the WHOLE marriage if you wish)

NOW...watch THIS video...and tell me WHICH performance you think is best?

its incomparable...thats why Saint Paul's is better then the Abbey, especially at Music.

Okay so there would NEVER be the cry of Vivat during the wedding, but even without that, the standard of music at Saint Paul's is simply a class WELL above the Abbey...if you now skip to the end of the first video...you hear that the Abbey does at least Redeem itself with a magnificent playing of Crown Imperial (another Coronational Anthem) for the Recessional. Thats more like it.

IMHO the best bit of the whole thing was the Address by London...and the biggest bloomer was the wedding ring that just didnt want to fit on Kates finger :laugh::laugh:

Maybe they chose the Abbey due to Diana?

Maybe they chose the Abbey due to Diana?

YES...I think they absolutely did. I dont think Neither the Prince of Wales, (any of them) could cope with William Marrying Catherine in...the same place as his Mother... :unsure-1:

the music WOULD have been better at SPC
