Hey Gang! Here's a little recording i did today. I'm a big Johnny Cash fan and recorded one of my favorite songs that he recorded. I got a new Flip and wanted to see how it works.

Very nice! :)

Whats the story with that half-scale banjo, how did you come up on that?

I have some Cash covers I can post later when I'm at my other CPU.

it's a banjolele. tuned GCEA like an uke but with the drum head of a banjo. I've played guitar and uke and always loved the banjo but dreaded learning new fingerings. I thought about just buying a banjo and tuning it like a uke or a 4 string guitar, but...this is more fun. can sound like an uke, banjo or mandolin with little adjustments.
definitely post your covers. I'll keep recording.

Okay, all my Cash covers are from a long time ago. So, of course, I hate how they sound, but whatever...

I have 3 others, but I still need to convert and upload them. This one was ready to go though, so here it is...

"I Hung My Head" ....http://www.cpanel.easyprowebtools.com/squaredoctagon.com/uploads/media/I-Hung-My-Head.mp3 (the link will ask you to either open the file with your favorite music player or download it to your CPU)

The were really popular in the 1920's. George Formby was one of the most well know performers. The guy is SICK with the strumming.

I'll check out your recording from home. can't download at work.

That was a good cover, Llama, bravo. I can see you are very relaxed with performing, an enviable trait.

And you went all NateR with the beard!! Nice.

Awesome, you should post more of your music.
JB, I haven't got to watch your yet, I'm on my phone.

One of my favorite songs is an old bluegrass gospel song called there's a man in here. There are several versions out there but the one I like has some crazy mandolin playing on it. Ill try to hunt it down I think you will like it.

I LOVE Bluegrass so this might be an idea of another cover for my group.

Me and my buddy Ben are performing our first gig as The Hatchetmen on 5/1 on City Island in NY. We do a few originals, and our own twists on a lot of covers.
Thursday I'm playing a 5 hour gig in NJ with my friends Celtic band at Mark Hughes' favorite restaurant.

Good job, man! One of my favorite Johnny songs. And you nailed that low note on "so I had one more for desert". Not to many people can do that!

No problem, man. I was sitting at work & for some reason that just popped into my head. I was looking for an excuse to procrastinate anyhow, so I wandered off to follow my muse!

You've got a great singing voice, Mark, & I'm impressed by the variety of instruments you can play.

Here's a sloppy version of "Folsom Prison Blues" I did for a buddy of mine who had requested it on his birthday (about 3 weeks ago)
I procrastinated getting it recorded for him only because it seems like when I sit down to actually record something I continuously make mistakes. I think I do better with an audience...
