View Full Version : Fedor vs Hendo

Everyone is curious as to what’s next for the once considered best fighter on the planet, Fedor Emelianenko. After a second straight loss last month, which happened to be only the second real loss of his career, Fedor has become unsure of where his MMA career will go from here. After his brutal loss to Antonio “Big Foot” Silva last month Fedor stated that maybe it was his time to move on from the sport. In a fight in which he was manhandled by the much bigger Silva, Fedor was battered by hammer fists while stuck in Silva’s mount. It was obvious that the size of Silva was a huge factor in Fedor’s inability to do much to defend himself, and after the fight it seemed that Fedor fighting such bigger men had finally caught up to him.

With his career now hanging by a thread in vicious winds and his age steadily creeping forward, it has been fairly unclear what Fedor or the promotion want to do next. With the Heavyweight Grand Prix in full swing throughout the rest of the year Fedor may not have many appealing choices for Heavyweight matchups.

However, just when we thought “The Last Emperor” might hang up the gloves we found out that there may be a very bright light at the end of Fedor’s suddenly dark tunnel.

Representatives from M-1 Global informed Fighters Only Magazine that Strikeforce has offered Mr. Emelianenko a title fight against the newly crowned Light Heavyweight Champion, Dan Henderson, at the end of the year. It was then confirmed that Fedor is strongly considering dropping down a weight permanently and taking the title fight with “Hendo”.

Fedor has always been a very small Heavyweight, but his power, accuracy, speed and agility have always kept him on the winning side of fights against bigger men. However, at 34 years old Fedor may be losing some of the snap that he held in his earlier fighting years. This is nothing against Fedor, but it’s just part of aging. Moving down a weight may even the playing field for the former PRIDE HW champion. Instead of being the smaller fighter and having to formulate a game-plan in hopes of eliminating the size difference, he will now have the luxury of being the bigger, stronger fighter. This move could be just the thing Fedor needs to catapult his career back into the stars, not to mention the excitement it would bring into the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight division.

With two consecutive losses by Fedor the Strikeforce head office was desperate to save their number one promotional draw from deflating completely, and a title offer at LHW may be just the thing to reignite the career and star-power of Fedor Emelianenko.

But let us not forget, Dan Henderson is a very strong, experienced, and game opponent that has beaten his share of bigger men throughout his career. The newly crowned Strikeforce LHW champ has no intention of letting the strap be ripped from his waist, but a classic matchup between the two former PRIDE champions could end up being an epic battle for the ages.

No definite plans have been drawn up at this point, but the idea is now out in the open, the offer has been given to Fedor, and the rest will have to play out with time.

Oh, I'd LOVE to see that fight!

I wouldn't count Dan out of it, he recovered from almost being KOd the first round last Saturday and went on to win in style.

I like both guys but I'll always be partial to Dan for flattening Spitsbing.

Fedor at LHW is terrifying. This would be a great fight. Fedor only has to practice keeping his left hand up.

How come, Neez?

Because I like bofa (tribute to Mac) them and wasn't looking forward to the fight. Although I think Fedor would win and I would be better with that than Fedor losing again. lol

I wonder if it has anything to do with taking the title fight away from Moussassi? Is he still with M-1 global?

love hendo but dont see what he has for fedor... everone says hendo has an iron chin but hes been rocked a punch of times by mw's and lw's... Fedor has been rocked what once in his career against hw's... Im willing to bet fedors right hand is just as hard as hendos too plus he has a left to go with it.. Not to mention the hand speed factor... If it goes to the ground this looks like fedor vs lindland!

fight id love to see between legends is hendo vs couture

This would be an awesome fight! :w00t: but I think someone with the type of pride Fedor has would see going down in weight as a coward move, specially after being defeated twice. I don't think he is going to LHW just my opinion.

Agreed. I think that there's a lot of pride in being able to say "I'm a HEAVYweight." and to have to "cheat" by going down & beating up the "little" guys at LHW would prolly feel like a cop-out.

Yes, I like them both too.

If Fedor is going to go to LHW, how about Spitsbing? I think that might be a fight EVERYONE can get behind. :ninja:

Does Fedor still have one more fight on his contract? If not, I honestly think he is going to announce his retirement.
