O geez, Frank has already asked to fight Ken.

Interviewer just asked Fedor why he listens to Russian Orthodox music which has no beat. Fedor says he's not a fan of pop music & just likes the Russian Orthodox more.

Gian Villante vs. Chad Griggs now. Griggs is the guy that just beat Bobby Lashley. I'll be rooting for Villante, though, because he's a fellow Colonial Athletic Association alum:

Villante was born in Wantagh, New York (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wantagh,_New_York). He graduated from General Douglas Macarthur High School Class of 2003. During his junior year, he placed 3rd in the New York State Wrestling Championships. He followed this up his senior year by winning the state championship. He was equally accomplished in football, in which he received the 2002 Thorpe Award winner as the top football player in Nassau County, also the Bill Piner Award as the top linebacker in Nassau County and was named to the High School Heisman All-Star team. He attended Hofstra University (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gianpiero_Villante#cite_note-5) from 2003-2007 where he continued his highly successful football and wrestling careers. Having been named a 2004 1st Team Defensive I-AA All-American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-American) by The Sports Network (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sports_Network), he was regarded as a potential NFL quality linebacker, the New York Giants (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Giants), New York Jets (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Jets), Indianapolis Colts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indianapolis_Colts), & Philadelphia Eagles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Eagles) all expressed interest in Villante. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gianpiero_Villante#cite_note-7)

Well, what'd I expect putting my faith in a Hofstra boy.

Left this hands down the whole time & got TKOed at 2:49 of Rnd 1.

as in frank shamrock and ken shamrock?
Yeah. The two of them have been yapping about fighting each other for like 18yrs, but nothing ever happens.

Now it's Shane Del Rosario vs. Lavar "Big" Johnson

EDIT: Apparently this was my 8,000th post (on this edition of the forums). I was too busy watching the fights to realize it at the time.

VCURamFan

Del Rosario won via Armbar with about 30sec left in the 1st. I was pretty impressed by him. In the clinch, he threw a coupla knees to the body that litterally lifted Johnson off the ground.

Johnson just declared Mauro the Voice of MMA.

So we've now got one fourth of the semi-finals set.

Andrei let himself get caught with his back to the cage & no where to circle off to. Got lazy with his hands & Sergei landed a nice looping left, dropping Andrei, then followed him to the ground & put him to sleep (with a right, I think).

The Spartan takes another nap.

AA was on his heel that whole fight. Sergei is a beast though. HE seems to have completely lost his chin and his aggression.

A.A looked good early on but he just becomes brain dead mid way. He fell back to a counter punch style and kept his back against the cage instead of circling or pushing it back to the middle.

Its been whats happened in his last few loses, fan or not, I think its time to retire.

Hes always had a questionable chin, but he was always able to hide it with quick movements and steady pressure, over the years its almost done a 180, its sad cause he has what it takes, but MMA has now passed him by as well.

Great back & forth in Rnd 1. I think Silva took it because he was better on the feet & then got the takedown at the end. Had Fedor managed to stay on top in the middle, he won have taken it, I think.

VCURamFan

WOW! NO question about that round. Possible 10-8 for Silva. That was one heck of a takedown to open it up.

FIGHT OVER! Fedor's eye was too closed from 5min of destruction.

You can. Attacks targetting the windpipe are a no-go, but if you've got a full grip on throat as a whole, then it's legal.

I know in UFC the guys are always warned, I wasnt sure if it was allowed to some extent in S.F. The rules between orgs and where they fight get a bit much.

No! I want his people to leak something that will hint to a huge conspiracy that caused all this to happen (his losses) and just leave! Allow me to keep my unshattered perception of my hero!

That first round was a slugfest.

Thats the problem with MMA, sometimes they let it go oon and other times they just want to stop it at the very sight of blood. Boxing seems to be the same way.

Honestly I think both men were exhausted and I saw round 3 ended like round 2 did. The stop was justified for fighter safety, i just hope similar fights are stopped for similar things. We do need to keep fighter safety at the top of the list.

If fedor has one weakness in his prime its that he bruises like a peach.. Kind of the opposite of bj penn who can get punched in the face all day and not have a mark on him...Fedors had fights where he won by knockout in a munute without getting hit and still have bruising all over his face..

Fedor is still relevent... Hed still beat most hw's out there... Huge hw's like Brock, Shane, and bigfoot are bad match ups for him though... Esp bigfoot cause he is acually better than fedor on the ground as well as having a 50 pound weight advantage!!!

I am so bummed about Fedor's loss........I still think he might of pulled out a win had it not been for the eye. As far as Silva looking gassed, I didn't think Fedor had much left either. It was a good fight and Fedor endured a ton of punishment, beyond what any other fighter would of been able to endure. That being said, it appears that 34, 35, 36, years of age seems to be the ceiling for peak performance in MMA.......WITH the exception of a few. As of late, I think we are witnessing the sunset on a few fighters amazing careers.
