I am fighting in the State AAU Championship this Saturday. Any forum members close by want to come down? I have won this 2 years running in kumite and a 1st and a 2nd in Kata.

Thanks! All.

My style is classical Okinawin Te'. This later became know as karate.

Chuck Liddel's style is Hawaiian Kempo, which came from Okinawa..

Best represented in The Karate Kid.

striking to kicking, joint/skeletal locking to grappling, throws and takedowns to groundfighting; all areas of personal defense tactics are addressed and augmented with the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Martial Science. This enables a smaller/weaker person to efficiently defend themselves from a much larger/stronger opponent.

Areas of indepth study and training:

-Kata and Bunkai:
The heart and soul of Okinawan Kempo karate-jutsu! Analyzing martial movement within Classical Okinawan Kata from Shuri, Tomari and Naha districs. Martial Science is used to enhance the application of such movements to provide a very effeciant way of self protection that can be performed by any individual.

-Kyusho Jutsu:
Tactics that exploit the body's energetic, nervous, circulatory, respiratory, muscular and skeletal systems through the use of Pressure Points within your techniques.

-Chin-na/Torite Jutsu:
Joint/skeletal locking and grappling methods of close range and groundfighting.

-Kobudo:
Okinawan weapons training

-Modern Weapons:
Balintawak Arnis stick and knife fighting. Tactical use and defense against firearms.

- Qigong:
Internal energy development for health and martial power. Various movements from Yang Style TaijiChuan, XingYiChuan, Baguazhang, White Crane and 5 Element Qigong are analyized from both health and martial aspects.

Earned GOLD for kata.. SILVER for Kumite..

It's a flip flop from the past two years at this tourney.. I normally win Kumite and 2nd in kata.

What do you mean "quick week"??

Here is the back story. Some of you know that I didn't pass my last belt test at my dojo. It was the first time that had ever happened. I was not able to preform kata well enough to qualify for my next rank. I don't know what happened that day to me.. no focus at all. 5 weeks later.. I still have no clue.

In traditional karate tourneys, kobudo (weapons) goes first, then kata.. then kumite. I do not compete in Kobudo. So I am off to the side, getting warmed up...

I go and I ROCK the kata. I totally smoke the competition. My sensei comes up to me after, and in front of the whole team, tells me.. "This was your test", and promotes me to high brown in front of the team.. and about 300 other people.

I had not been awarded my medal for kata yet, but everyone knew I had won.. The promotion was a 3 inch piece of red tape..

I didn't know it was coming and was completely caught off guard. But at that moment.. I could care less about medals, over a piece of tape.
