Assassination?

A Nicaraguan diplomatic official was found dead in a Bronx apartment with his throat slit, New York City police say.

Police said the 34-year-old man, identified by the Nicaraguan Mission to the UN as Cesar Mercado, was found at about 10:15 a.m. Thursday by his driver, who had been scheduled to take him to the United Nations for the opening of the General Assembly's annual meeting.

Mercado is a senior official who works at the Permanent Mission of Nicaragua to the United Nations, police sources said.

Mercado's body was found in a sixth-floor apartment believed to be his residence. The door was ajar and a knife was recovered at the scene.

There was no immediate word on a motive.

"The investigation is ongoing," a police source told FoxNews.com.

Assassination?

Yes....indicative of MO I would say...but Why? its not particularly a country of importance

The only thing of interest to note is that its a good example of the Americans trying to force political change in countries close to home, not of their liking....but all of that ceased more then twenty years ago.

Who would bother...he's not even an important delegate particularly...just an international civil servant.
