Just read Big Tim is going to debut as a pro wrestler in Japn later this month. Out of most MMA guys I thought he'd make a good one. He'd need to tighten the baby fat up if he wanted to make it big time, but then agian depends on his gimick. What do you all think and who else would make a good pro wrestler?

Well, my 2 cents is that I was hoping Tim could make an MMA comeback, I always liked him and wanted to see him fight in the octagon again.

Certainly nothing personal, ChrisF, I'm just not a fan of pro wrestling. But Tim has to make a living, he has name recognition, so I guess he must capitalize on that...

I thought he tried to get rid of his spare tire when he was taking steroids and it didn't work. He may just be stuck with it, that's his body type.

Well I guess now he can take all the steroids he wants to get rid of that spare tire. Or at least build up everything around it so it doesn't seem so noticeable.

Pro-wrestling in Japan is different to how it is in the United States. Most of it is aimed at an older crowd. I just read that he might be versing Josh Barnett, who has 'shoot style' matches. 'Shoot style' matches are still a complete work, but focus is put on making them a bit more realistic, there will probably be some grappling and striking elements used. It might be fun, he's expected to have two matches.

This is very true. Japan is more of a shoot and a lot less of a soap opera. Still pre determined endings and rolling sotries just not as much theatrics. Thos wreslters who like ot work stiff love Japan. VADER & Stan Hansen are greta exmaples of this

There are guys that will sometimes put more on their strikes, but hardly connect with each other at different times or even not at all ~ which you see quite a bit of in WWE. A predetermined ending isn't the only thing that makes it a work. Which I'm sure you know, but there are those that don't seem to realise this. Many people can't tell the difference between a hard strike, one that's just connecting or one that's not even hitting the other person.

Quite a few of the big names have backgrounds or bases in Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, sumo, judo (the list goes on). Those guys in particular are often really good to watch.

You could say that Vader and Hansen made more of a legacy in Japan than they did in the States.

I had no idea Tim was calling it quits on MMA. Is he no longer with Miletich?

I'm pretty sure that he's not done with MMA, but he's no longer with Miletich.

I dont think he's been fully with Miletich for a very long time....I dont think he was there when I visited almost this time last year. :ninja:

Does he have the stamina for all the road Travel? or is it not so bad in Japan? Could he go from performing like thrice a year to thrice a week

He's wrestling in Inoki Genome Federation and they only have shows every once in a while and he's only expected to have two matches. I don't think he's going to have too much of a schedule.

I think the last time he trained with MFS for a fight was 2007.

Japan is not as bad as America. That is why so many older guys go there to retire as well. I do not think many MMA guys would survive a pro wrestlers schedule but I think we have all had that debate before :)

Cool pics even in those you can see how much more stiff Japan works than here in America. No wonder Vader and Stan Hansen were like hereos over there. They were the epitome of stiff.
