It was for Canada Day...she visited and gave a small speech...and even spoke french for the french canadians...they should be VERY Greatful because French Canada of course is that small area of French that presumably never left after the American War of Independance from The Crown. England and France have never truely been friends....so for the Queen to utter French for her French Canadian Subjects is...a step I thought she wouldnt take

When she left Canada she went to New York on the way back to talk to the United Nations...and the guy who was covering the news for her visit said "well this is a hyper brief visit after Nine days in Canada this will shape up to be about five hours in New York City and its not like she comes all that often. The first time was 1957, and that was the last time she spoke to the United Nations. The most recent time was 1976, that was thirty four years ago, so quite some time, she doesnt get here very often... obviously The Queen has some Two Billion Subjects worldwide, but none of them are American Citizens, they went through an awfully big war a couple of centuries back to avoid just that....and yet she remains quite popular..."
