:unsure-1: the newbie in the flat above...is "known" by the police and nearly inadvertently burned the house down...

You did the right thing, Dave.

Since the police brought it up, you should have gone ahead and asked "what" exactly is he known for.

if I hadnt gone back, then the house would have burned down. The Fireman said I was "lucky" the grill had not already caught fire...well when I leave at 7.30...I aint back till 10pm...not to mention I'm in a terrace block which means my house is joined to the house next to it on both sides. (which arent flats) The potential in terms of damage, loss of belongings (I dont have contents insurance because the only thing of value is my computer and its less then 500 pounds) not to mention death of someone in a nearby house.

Had I been SUPER Lucky and not returned to a blaze...then its likely the house would have burned during the night...and you may not be speaking to me now.

Its no exageration.

On top of that, the guy (who to the best of my knowledge never returned last night!) is known to the police...they searched his flat...so they probably think drugs...thats Great...he's going to be overjoyed when he finds out who called the police isnt he

I dont think the policeman was supposed to say anything to me :ninja: as they looked in his flat...they are probably searching for drugs...possibly weapons but highly unlikely...Harrogate has a HUGE drug problem, you never hear about it because its a wealthy place...so the users can well afford the drugs...I know this because I know statistics on pharmacies giving out drug replacement chemicals in trying to ween people off them, versus the same stats from other parts of the country.
