Do you post on other forums - any type of forum, not necessarily MMA. If so, what forum and under what name?

Heh, it's a secret. But you go first, PTM!

Actually, I'm just getting over the last withdrawal symptoms from a blog I was a part of for many years. My nick here is a shortened version. This topic is ironic because I was just thinking I'd like to change to my real name.

I've posted at a few sites but only 1 on a regular basis previously. They were political, for the most part. Started at LGF (but only posted sporadically), got banned there when Charles went crazy with the banning stick and never looked back.

I post on a couple of Star Wars forums under the username "bigbarada" but other than that not really much. I have several accounts on different forums (from Star Wars to MMA to Nintendo related) but I only post regularly between 3 or 4 sites.

Rebelscum.com and SirStevesGuide.com are the Star Wars boards I post in the most. I've been a member of SirSteve's (SSG) since 2001. I just joined the RS forums about a year ago to help promote my Star Wars website.

I got very fed up with all the flame wars on the political blogs. I feel comfortable (and happier) here, people treat each other pretty well.

Many years ago when I first got the internet I posted on a stay at home moms forum. I can't remember what name I used. Then some of us joined together with another group to form a current events debate forum that was invitation only. I was there for many years and loved that group. When I started nursing school I didn't have time to play with anyone other than my children so I gave it all up. Now I just post here. I lurk on sherdog and a few other mma sites but have never posted there. I used to post on Tim's forum but haven't even logged in there in a long time.

I don't post anywhere else, but I've had accounts (to lurk) on various other sites, most notably matt sarah's page just before the fight. I was hoping that he'd post some kinda insider training video I could give to Matt!

No, but I googled my user name and apparently there are about a hundred thousand other people using it too. I guess it’s not as clever as I thought. It seems to be really popular with the ‘world of warcraft’ set; I’m not sure how to feel about that.

I've been intrigued by some of the TV shows where they take a beat up old jalopy and restore it to beautiful condition. I know very little about cars but I love the shape of some of the late 60's American convertibles - for example '69 Olds Cutlass Convertible. I am tempted to buy a restored one or buy a beat-up one and hire someone to restore it. In your opinion, what are the top-5 late '60's/ early 70's convertibles?

Ive been thinking about picking this one up . It was priced to me for $1000. Which is a pretty good price for a vert cutlass

TO be honest ive never really been to fond of convertables unless its a first or second generation or blazer ha ha. As far as what i like in old cars , after 69 there wasnt a whole bunch that looked very good unless you stick with the muscle cars. Im pretty fond of the 68-69 GTO's , the 66-67 Novas , The late 60's early 70's Dodge Challengers and 68-69 Chargers, 65-66 Impalas the 68 and 69 Camaros and any vette pre 68 , Chevelles have never really done that much for me , I know the 70 ls6 was the quintessential muscle car but ive never had much of a liking for them styling wise. The styling in cars really started dying about 1961 , im more of a 60 on back car guy lol. A 58 chevy impala is almost impossible to beat when it comes to styling , that car was amazing and gets overshadowed quite a bit because of the popularity of the 55-57's But a 55 chevy will still always be my favorite car of all times.

Ford has never produced anything that gets me excited after about 1936 . Im a big fan of the Model A fords and the 32 5 window coupe.

You want a good lookin converitble ? 58 impala all the way .. But thats just my taste

How much do you think it would cost to turn something like this:

Into something like this?:

To be honest . if your not wanting to do the work yourself . You are WAYYY better off to buy one finished or alot closer than the one i posted. Now if your on a tight budget , and you dont mind not completing the project for 4 or so years than the old one is the way to go .

It all depends , you could have 15-20,000 in it without the blink of an eye , and thats mostly parts not figuring on the labor to do the work , Thats just you doing the work yourself.

I have posted on sherdog in the past, but not really since I started posting here. Lot's of 12 year old keyboard warriors on there. I also post on rpls.com (a site for professional surveyors) under my real name and on a couple of hunting sites for Mississippi. Other than that, I post a fair amount on facebook.
I have lots of pics of Benaiah on there!! Lol

The cutlass body looks really good. Isn't that a huge advantage for restoration?

PTM, do you ever watch Mecum Auctions on Discovery? They hold auctions all over the country.

I had never heard of it until your post. I saw a few episodes of a show called "Overhaulin'" on TLC/Discovery. I am not a big car nut - there is just something about the classic lines of some late '60's convertibles that I like. If I ever get serious about buying one, maybe I'll check out Mecum Auctions.

You definitely should; they are very reputable and the cars they sell would knock your socks off! I bet you could find an auction fairly close to wherever you are located, I think it would be a blast to go even if you don't bid.

Here's their site:
http://mecum.com/

I only know all this because my husband would LOVE to get one of those cars Mac is talking about and he's often watching the auctions :-)

Unfortunately, none of the auctions is close to my compound, which is quite . . . remote.:ninja: We are in need of a new car but my wife has a vote so unfortunately, I see a minivan in our future rather than a classic convertible.

No.

Well for a while I posted on Kyle Watsons BJJ Forum, I also had a brief spell on Gabriel Ruedigers Forum, and that guy from here who had a forums whose name I forget (and no I didnt post on Bobs Forum :laugh:) and I think I once posted on the underground, and once on MMAweekly...but they were booooooring.

I have posted comments on mmahitpit dot com, but mainly because I wrote for them...other then that I have myspace and facebook...but thats about it, oh and youtube

As for names...Well I was Pulvaris on one...and Kaziklu-Bey on the other  but I cant remember which way round that was

This Forum may have changed some, but there isnt really any other place quite like it out there. Most other forums are either stupid big, or they are full of mean and foolish trolls. this place was different, I think this one is more interesting because at its foundation it was one of the first to be an MMA forum dedicated to a particular fighter....like now every fighter and his dog have their own forum....but it used to really just be Tito Ortiz, and Chuck Liddell...or this one...unless you wanted one like Sherdog whose loyalty was unattached.

This Forum has grown a community thats so active we have possibly up to 50 regulars which might post/be online EVERY SINGLE day. Many more then once a day. Thats an achievement in itself if the others are anything to go by
