I know he got dropped from the WEC but has anyone heard anything else of him? After he failed to make weight & lost to Sonnen (at MW, btw), he got dropped. he's been going through some personal $h!t recently & it hasn't allowed him to train like he should.

Whatever his reasons were for getting dropped like he did, I hope he recovers if only for his sake, not mine. I never liked the guy; I always heard about how amazing a fighter he is, and when I saw him fight Sonnen the first time around, I was not impressed. I was in disbelief. I was happy to hear that Sonnen beat him the next time around...

but seriously, I hope he doesn't end up in a gutter. I wouldn't wish that for him. Hopefully he'll come back like David Louseau has..

You "never liked the guy" but hadn't seen him fight before Sonnen? lol

How do you not like a guy you've never seen fight?
and if you saw him before that, how were you not impressed?

Former WEC middleweight champion Paulo Filho training for April return on ESPN

“Everything points to April 3rd, in the United States. The event will be broadcast on ESPN, and should be in Las Vegas. I don’t know the name of the event yet, my agent is coming to Brazil will all the papers for me to sign. I just know I’ll fight on the 3rd and want to get back in the ring.”

-Former WEC middleweight champion Paulo Filho (16-1) all but confirms that he will compete in the Bellator Fighting Championship eight man tournament, which will air weekly on ESPN Deportes beginning in April. “Ely” dropped the first fight of his career back in November via unanimous decision to Chael Sonnen - a bout he weighed in for at a whopping nine pounds over the limit. There was clearly something off about the ex-champ that night as he appeared disinterested in the fight and exhibited some bizarre behavior inside the cage, perhaps a result of the depression issues and substance abuse in the months leading up to fight. According to the article, however, he is back on track and training with a better sense of focus now. Hopefully he’s cleaned up for real because he’s far too talented to abandon his career like it appeared he was doing in his last appearance.
