Here's what sticks out to me:

Nick Diaz & Robbie Lawler - $100,000 (no win bonus) - Guess Strikeforce must think they're worth a lot for some odd reason!
Cris “Cyborg” Santos $35,000 (includes $15,000 win bonus and $5,000 championship bonus) - I like that idea, that no matter your contract, if you win the belt, you get an automatic additional bonus
Herschel Walker $600 (no win bonus) - I'd be willing to bet that $600 is the minimum you're allowed to pay a pro fighter. I mean, Herschel don't need th cheddar, prolly woulda fought for free if they let him.
Wes Sims $25,000 - Wow, I would have agreed to a fight in 10 days if they paid me 25 grand for it!!

Herschel donated his purse to a charity.. I didn't realize it would be so small though, especially considering how many fans tuned in to see him. Expected Bobby Lashley to make a little more too.

So what the heck then...I wonder what happened to have him getting just 600 bucks? Is he really an mma fighter, licensed and legal or was this just for charity?

Supposedly it was his pro debut.

Well then he's an idiot. You'd think even if it was for charity he'd hold out for more money.

perhaps they didn't want to disclose the amount Herschel was getting and giving to charity and the lowest they can claim is 600. so they pay him that and donate the rest. nopt sure

Herschel Walker $600

They probably did that with Herschel for tax purposes if he was just going to donate the money to charity. If they were to actually pay his entire purse out to him he would have to pay taxes on it regardless if he was donating it or not. The $600 was probably either a minimum that they are required pay by the commission, or they were just paying him to cover per diem for his time spent in Miami.

Regardless, these payouts are pathetic.

I don't know....that whole 600 dollar thing seems a little suspicious to me.

It's most likely because of taxes.

There is no way he only earned $600. More people know who Herschel Walker is than anybody on that card, and more than most people in MMA for that matter.

Lets see! He's a Heisman Trophy winner. He's publicly volunteered to give his purse to Charity. He's been interviewed all over the web it seems. Seems like a real good guy as well as accomplished athlete. If I was a promoter I would be embarrassed to only pay him 6 hundred dollars!

Strikeforce is ageist and racist, the $600 proves it! :mad0233:

I'll have to do some digging to remember where I found it, but I believe that the 600 dollars was the amount to cover the commission expenses (?) for his liscense. I'll find the article, but I'm pretty sure that his purse was substantially more, but it was undisclosed as it was being donated to charity.

So you're part of the "Scammed for Charity" group, too, huh?

yeah ... there was an article where he was talking and i think he got close to 6 figures for that .... but it went to charity ... i think if they give it to him and he donates it, he gets dinged for taxes, but if strikeforce or whoever gives it, i guess they get dinged .. who knows ... but he did say he called his manager when he saw the $600 online of what he got paid ... cuz he said he was embarrassed that that's how much they donated ... he was reassured that it was more that that .... his agent probably donated it to the Human Fund ...

That's not a scam, that's being smart.

If you are kind enough to donate all the money you make from entertaining people to charity, why should you have to pay the government almost 40% of it first?

When Michael Jackson performed on the Victory tour in the 80's, he donated every penny that he would have been paid to charity, I'm sure they did the same thing. Rather than claiming it as actual income, they just donate the amount of money that "would have" been paid to the person.
