View Full Version : Pissed Beyond Belief About Sex Offenders

I just found out that a freakin sex offender lives than 5 houses away from me. We've been living in this place for 10 years. There's a school in my backyard. There's kids that live right in front of him. I am super pissed that no one was informed of this, especially knowing that kids are being put in danger! This perve got charged of having lewed acts with a kid under 14.

I cannot believe the management has never formed us. You know how many cases there are where a freakin perve lived right next door to kids, kidnapped them, molested them, and then killed them? Yes, I know we have the national sex offender map to assist people, but that's not enough. What about the people who don't have computers? The public needs to be informed in better ways when a freakin perve moves in. I'm sorry if invades their privacy, but once you take away a child's purity you don't deserve your privacy. So what if you served time? Child molesters are lowest piece of crap on this earth. I would rather live next to crack house than a freakin molester. Well, I actually do, right in front of me. But that's besides the point.

It is sad but the people that own your property don't have to tell you that there is a sex offender next door anymore then if you live next to a police station them having to tell you of all the crime on your street. It's just not their responsibility. Most parents know about websites ( like I've put below) where you can see where the registered sex offenders live.
There are just too many of them. It's up to us to do our homework.

Scroll down to the bottom and click on "continue".Scroll down and click on the box next to "I have read the disclaimer" then "continue". You can enter information such a zip code, city ( this is for Ca. only but a lot of states have similar websites)

I actually thought that sex offenders were supposed to notify their neighbors? Maybe that is just in some states, not sure.

No, sex offenders just have to register with the police station. And every time they move too. Some are monitored more closely then others.I certainly wouldnt count on a sex offened to notify me when he moves next door

I wouldn't count on it either, but I know that in some cases they are required to do it. I'm not sure what the criteria for that is or how it works in each state, but I know it exists. It's even a cliche that has been used in tv/movies quite a bit, where a sex-offender has to go around and get signatures from their neighbors.

What really gets me is that they would ever let someone who has committed a sex crime against a child live in such close proximity to a school. Or, the even bigger question, why do they let them out of jail at all?

I actually have had the same thought through the years as JB. Reopen Alcatraz and put all the pedophiles there, boat in supplies once a week. Let them victimize each other and keep the rest of the public safe.

I know what you're saying, Black Mamba, but I think that the system does let us know in that there are websites that shows where they are residing in one's area. I usually don't look at it because it's so depressing (I believe we have 7 in our neighborhood, levels 1-3).

Here are a couple of sites:

Here's one for our state - http://ml.waspc.org/

LOL!

I see Michelle already posted about sites, oops.

When we lived in a smaller town, we actually got flyers left at our door when a sex offender moved into the neighborhood. This was in the 90's and early 2000s; I suppose the ACLU put a kabosh on that...

Right now Kentucky is in a bind cause some court said our law restricting where sex offenders live can't be applied retroactively. I forget the details but the purpose was to keep them away from School's and Parks!

sounds good except for the boating in supplies. just drop them off and make sure the cant come back. i don't really care if they survive or not.

Reopen Alcatraz? Heck no they are talking about getting rid of it completely ( they do tours now). It's some of the most expensive real estate in the world. There is talk of making that little island into a resort:laugh:

Believe it or not, there was a point in time that a registered sex offender had to put a sign on either his yard or his door.People kept burning down the houses and such and...oh my...that violated their rights so that stopped

I aggree. there are plenty of websites listing where these people live...and I dont know about the U.S but here in britian if you really didnt have your own computers, then there are public ones you can use for free in any library...there really isnt much excuse for not finding out for yourself...though perhaps you are better off knowing...I mean...so you now know where a sex offender lives...how does that help you?? There isnt much you can do about it is there...one should always be on guard for all the things Danelle mentioned that can happen to kids

Yes Dave, I have heard recently that we have libraries with computers

I always look at those sites when I move.I don't have small children living with me so I wouldn't be too concerned about a child molester living next door ( I'd have a real hard time not doing mean shyte to him:laugh:) but I'd only be concerned if there was some rapist living near by.Anyway, yes, we need to take responsibility for ourselves and our children.

Is that guy that lives a few doors down registered? around here you have to be at least 1000ft from a school i'm not sure if it passed or not but they were trying to make it 2500 feet from a school and1000 from a bus stop. that doesn't sound safe.

I don't know how I could deal with living around a sexual offender. There is one in my neighborhood but our neigbors are so far apart. I think he is about a mile away. that's still seems a little to close...

What level is he?

I knew a guy who was 21, slept with a 15 year old who told him she was 18 (from what I've been told she looked 23). He was a good guy, just stupid, young and naive. He was labeled a sex offender and had to post a sign. He also can't get a job and I believe lives on welfare.

Is he being lumped into the pedophile category?

Twinsmama

In Florida he would be a sexual offender but it is also listed what catagory he is in. I think she mentioned this guy was guilty of lewd and lacivious acts under 14. If they are a repeat they are bumped up to a sexual predator.

I understand the guy you are talking about that sucks for him. These days you need to make sure you know who you are with is of age. To much to lose. I dated a guy when i was 15 that was 23. I heard he got out of jail a few months ago. He was in there for dating 15 and 16 year olds still . He's 38 now and still using the excuse he thought they were old enough.

That happens too often. It's sad but those boys need to learn not to be screwing girls they don't even know. They still need to take some responsibility."I didn't know" and "she lied" just isn't good enough.

Yes, that's the unfairness of the system, I believe he would be labelled a level 1 sex offender.

Sounds as believable as the guys who downloaded kiddie pr0n and when they got caught said they were doing "research".

Yes, that's so true.

I went over to Wiki to look at the "age of consent" and found some interesting facts; I didn't know as much as I thought I did.
