Is there something the matter with his tongue or something? He sounds weird. Not to mention he looks uncomfortable too...

Greasegate:laugh: He said he got "tipped off" before the fight that GSP was going to be "greasing" for this fight and had been planning it for sometime.

wait, how could Kenny have told BJ about the greasing when BJ complained about GSP in the first fight? and, since Kenny is training with GSP now, how could he have told BJ about the planned greasing?

unless you're being silly

he's always respected Hughes, go listen to their pre first fight. almost like an idol or some ****? he definitely had respect for him. i'm sure he still does. as for Sherk, who knows, but it's good to support guys who have gone through what you have, ie, greasegate.

Florian responds
Kenny Florian knew that trash talk would be par for the course gearing up towards a fight with UFC lightweight champion B.J. Penn. However, he didn’t quite expect the kick-off he got on Tuesday.

Penn, who’s been nursing his wounds since his four-round loss to welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre at UFC 94 on Jan. 31, expressed surprise that Florian planned to train with the French Canadian fighter, claiming that Florian had previously contacted Penn to warn him of St. Pierre’s proclivity to “grease up” before fights.

Penn dropped the bombshell statement during his first sit-down video interview since UFC 94 on BJPenn.com.

“That is kind of surprising to me because Kenny is actually the guy who tipped us off that GSP was going to be greasing,” said Penn. “He actually e-mailed me and tipped me off.”

Florian, who once trained with the popular Hawaiian fighter in his homeland, seemed flabbergasted by Penn’s assertion.

“I’ve never emailed a fighter about anything like that. I don’t even have B.J. Penn’s email,” a puzzled Florian told Sherdog.com on Tuesday. “I’d love to see that email. I would say print that email and show it to everybody. Where’s this mystery email?”

Florian, 32, also dispelled any possibility that the two had exchanged the alleged information by other means.

“I haven’t spoken to B.J. -- besides ‘hello’ -- since January of 2007,” he said. “I’ve never trained with [St. Pierre] in the past. I have no motive in saying that. Even if I knew, would I say that? I know of other fighters who have [greased] and I don’t say anything to anybody.”

Florian doesn't want to
wait for his shot at Penn.
Florian, who busted through Joe Stevenson in four minutes at UFC 91 last November, has gone 6-0 in the Octagon since his unanimous decision loss to then-champion Sean Sherk at UFC 64 in October 2006.

The Boston native is widely considered the No. 1 contender to Penn’s lightweight throne, though the controversy surrounding greasing allegations by St. Pierre’s corner and subsequent aspirations for a rematch have threatened to derail a Penn-Florian showdown.

Florian (11-3) interpreted Penn’s latest revelation as a step back in his direction at least.

“I was a little worried [about a St. Pierre-Penn rematch coming first],” said Florian. “From what I heard, it did really well with the pay-per-view and a lot of people turned up for it. The UFC certainly could have made a lot of money doing the third one, but I think the overwhelming response was –- I didn’t realize how big of a fight it would be between me and B.J. until I saw the polls and people talking on the Interweb. People want to see me fight B.J. and it feels good to know that.”

Florian suggested that Penn “feels threatened” by the fighter’s intentions to train with St. Pierre, and described the Hawaiian’s comments as “a mind game.” Florian hopes to join the multi-talented 170-pound king in Montreal sometime in March.

Penn’s assessment of Florian the fighter was far less controversial.

“He’s very good,” said Penn during the hour-long interview. “He’s very well rounded. He’s a black belt in jiu-jitsu. He’s obviously improved his wrestling and he’s a southpaw muay Thai fighter with great kicks. He can box, he can elbow, he can knee. He’s a mixed martial artist. He is. I give Kenny that: He’s a mixed martial artist, and I’ve got my work cut out for me.”

The UFC has not officially offered Florian a title shot against Penn (13-5-1) yet, though the part-time ESPN correspondent anticipates a return to the Octagon in June or July. Penn confirmed that his reps are currently negotiating the bout with the UFC.

Known as a cerebral competitor, Florian’s reasons for training with St. Pierre are two-fold.

“He’s trained everyone to fight against me. He trained both [Sam] Stout and [Roger] Huerta to fight me,” said Florian. “and obviously, he got a first-hand account of fighting B.J. –- twice. He’s gone seven rounds with B.J., so that’s some good information to get. Hopefully Georges will forget about the email I sent B.J. Penn and share it with me.”

BJ Penn is really surprising me with all his actions and words. This is an all time low. He seems desperate. So Kenny Florian, a guy he is about to fight, and who hasn't trained with GSP (yet) had inside info that GSP would be greasing....what a joke. BJ Penn is a joke. He just can't admit that he got dominated and humiliated and that he QUIT. Just like he quit in the Hughes fight. When things don't go his way he quits. Jon Fitch, GSP, and Hughes all have way more heart than BJ Penn.

I hope Kenflo beats him. I think he has a chance.

i like how Florian says he never told BJ anything, then goes on to say that he knows guys who grease but wouldn't rat on them. that would be sweet if he really did send an e-mail to BJ and BJ kept it.

if he did send it, i doubt BJ saved it. otherwise, BJ is just probably trying to get him in trouble with GSP. either way, BJ stops him in the 2nd, at the latest.

:) If it makes you feel better...I think Penn is telling porkies. He is angry because Florian used to train with him and now has gone to train with the guy who just beat him. soooo he's trying to cause trouble between the two of them. :unsure-1:

I wonder if thats a lie aswell, but he's saying it to try and show that even if he did have prior knowledge of GSP, he wouldnt be telling Penn.

The moral dillema is...if you know SHOULD you say :ninja: Some moralists could turn this round and say that IF he has knowledge he SHOULD be telling...however...he shouldnt be telling Penn...he should be reporting annon to a higher authority so they can do a set up. That way the mole is never revealed and it looks accidental that the criminal was caught

kinda like when GSP was caught in his last fight?

No. That really was an accident. I mean more like, a random spot check that is not as random as its supposed to be. For example, if you were told someone was going to grease before getting into the cage, you might accidently replace the Ref with a SAC official who has been primed with the foreknowledge to be extra vigilent because the suspect is under descreet investigation. If nothing is found then it just looks like a random spot check by the Athletic Commission. IF it reveals something then its obvious to the relevent higher authority....and to the fighter it would look like a terribly unlucky and unfortunate saga...when really it was planned to test the fighter. If he had nothing to hide he would pass with no problem.

Another way would be far more draconian, but the company could declaire that it alone will provide the vaseline needed for a fight, and no outside or camp is to bring anything in. Then start random bag checks on entry, random locker room searches...anyone with Vaseline is gonna have no excuse then. Course I dont think it happens enough for that sort of measure to be needed. But there are ways and means the Institution can stop this kinda thing from happening.

If I was the company I would make sure everyone was tested for drugs before and after the event. I'd also be asking for random samples across the whole year. Perhaps a guy has just fought, and isnt due to for another 5 months. I'd get him tested in month three, out of the blue :ninja:

but then I'm mean
